    The man known to all NASCAR fans at the King of NASCAR, Richard Petty, came to Belterra Casino Tuesday, Jan. 31 for a Tireside Chat, a question and answer session hosted by the Kentucky Speedway.

    Petty is a seven-time Sprint Cup Champion and won 200 races in his career. His father, Lee Petty, won the first Daytona 500 and his son Kyle also had a career in NASCAR. His grandson Adam also began a career in racing, but he died in a wreck in practice at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

  • Carroll County spoils Coach Leep...

    Carroll’s Dallas Gibson was too hot to handle for the visiting Trimble County Raiders. He used his repertoire of inside post moves, grabbed offensive rebounds for put-backs and hit 10-12 free throws for a 30-point, 17-rebound-performance, en route to a 67-55 Panther victory Tuesday, Jan. 31.

    “I was really proud of Dallas,” head coach Carroll Yager said. “… He just played really, really well, big difference for us for sure.”

  • Fifth grade Raiders top Pope...

    The Raiders 5th grade boys beat Pope John Saturday in the first round of the league tournament 23-13. David Duncan led the team with 12 points, Dane Lacefield 4, Logan Clifford, Evan Stevens, Duncan Ralston had 2 points each and Shane Mills had 1. Clifford led the team with 9 rebounds and Grant Weaver had 5.

  • Trimble falls in OT

    The Trimble County Lady Raiders, down by 16 points late in the third quarter, initiated a rally that brought them down to a chance to win on their last possession of regulation against Gallatin County Monday.

    Trailing 47-35 at the quarter break Trimble continued to eat away at Gallatin’s advantage in the final quarter stop and pulled even, at 56-56, on a three point basket by McKenzie Dunlap with 1:42 left to play.

  • Trimble upends District rival...

    Trimble County’s Lady Raiders, led by the triple threat of Jessie Dunlap, Paige Black and Katie Temple, took control of the game early Friday and dismantled the North Oldham Lady Mustangs by a 67-51 score on a night in which the school held a fundraiser for the American cancer Society. Dunlap led the Lady Raiders’ offensive effort with 17 points. Black chipped in 16 points and Temple added 15 as Trimble led at every quarter stop.

  • Elementary Raider teams complete...

    Trimble’s fifth grade basketball team took on Switzerland County for a shot at going undefeated in the Van Wye league in Madison, IN. The Raiders were very lackadaisical at the game, seemed to have no energy and didn’t play like themselves in the game. They pressed in the first half, which helped account for 21 steals for the game but the Raiders also amassed 11 fouls for the half. Trimble went into halftime down 12-10.

  • Tryouts for Little League...

    Tryouts for Trimble County Little League Baseball are right around the corner. The league will hold tryouts on Feb. 11 at the Morgan Community Center.

    The league will make several changes this year. The first change you see is the name, we will be affiliating with Little League this year. This adds several benefits, from insurance, training of umpires, a structured All Star playoff, and having inter-league games with other Little Leagues.
