    Inside the four walls of Trimble County High School’s gymnasium, a lot of basketball action took place last week as the Raiders hosted the Eighth Region All “A” Classic. The Raiders opened the first round with a victory over the Owen County Rebels, 71-50, before matching up against the Walton-Verona Bearcats.

    Intensity and heart were the keys to success for the Trimble County Lady Raiders en route to their dominating 67-29 win over St. Francis Monday. Trimble’s third win of the season had been a long time coming, stretching back over an eight-game losing streak, since the ladies’ last win came a month ago over Southwestern on Dec. 15.

    In the search for a new baseball coach, the Trimble County Raiders have turned to one of its former players to help continue the program after last year’s retirement of long-time coach Frank Ragland.

    Brent Taylor, a Trimble County alumnus from the Class of 2000, will serve as the program’s new head baseball coach. Taylor brings years of playing experience and community leadership to the role.

    The Trimble County Lady Raiders were hoping to get back into a winning frame of mind when they hosted Ludlow last night. Picking up a win would be a great change of pace after an extremely humbling weekend in Florida where the girls faced three overwhelming opponents in the 29th Annual Daytona Beach Sunshine Classic.

    The Classic is a high school basketball tournament that takes place annually and is sponsored by Sport Travel and Management. The event is hosted each year by Atlantic High School in Daytona Beach, Fla.

    After Trimble’s win over the North Oldham Mustangs, the Raiders returned home and pulled off a 74-55 victory over the Eminence Warriors.

    Reece Webster, who scored 29 points during the Mustangs matchup, led the Raiders offense again against the Warriors with 28 points. Evan Stevens scored 18 points, Ben Stevens with 11 points, Dylan Jennings five, Ryan Long four, Logan Clifford, Will Kunselman, Austin Cissell and Grant Weaver with two points each.

  • Lady Raiders pick up season...

    The Trimble County Lady Raiders under the direction of head coach Kerrie Stewart picked up its second win of the young basketball season Saturday, claiming a 58-43 victory over the visiting Southwestern Lady Rebels of Hanover, Indiana.

    It was a close contest early with Trimble trailing throughout much of the first half. Southwestern held a 15-13 edge after the first eight minutes of play and although Trimble led briefly 17-15 at the six minute mark in the second quarter the Lady Rebels reclaimed the lead and held a 24-21 advantage at halftime.
