  • Starks qualify for state All ‘A’ Classic golf tourney

    Two members of the Trimble County Junior Senior High School girls’ golf team recently qualified for the state All “A” Classic.

    Macy Stark and Maddi Stark qualified for the tournament after completing the Eighth Region All “A” Classic event at Trimble County. While the girls’ golf team for Trimble came in second place in the event, Macy Stark obtained the lowest individual score in the region, at 87, while Maddi obtained a 99.

  • Lady Raiders defeat Carroll for first volleyball win of '19

    Trimble County’s volleyball teams had a strong showing over rival Carroll on Aug. 20, with the freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams all picking up victories.

    In the varsity matchup, the Lady Raiders won all three sets, 25-8, 25-11 and 25-11. The first set included the Lady Raiders’ longest points run of the night with a 10-0 unanswered streak over the Lady Panthers.

  • Lady Raiders mercy rule Gallatin County after district losses to North, South Oldham teams

    After a 7-1 loss at North Oldham on April 15, followed by a 5-4 loss to South Oldham the next day, the Lady Raiders got the bats going and were able to defeat the Gallatin County Lady Wildcats Wednesday, 14-4 after five innings.

  • Oldham overwhelms Raiders in shutouts

    The Raiders opened district action against Oldham County. However, in both games with the Colonels, the foes from Oldham had closed the door twice, ending both games with shutouts.

    The Colonels were able to overpower the Raiders on the road April 15, where batters were struck out 12 times out of 19 at-bats. The lone hit of the evening came off the bat of Ryan Goody in the top of the fourth inning when he hit a single on a line drive to right field.

  • Trimble competes in NCKC tennis tourney

    Trimble’s tennis players had a strong showing on the home court Tuesday and Wednesday last week, hosting the North Central Kentucky Conference tennis tournament.

    In the first round for girls singles on Tuesday, Hannah Miracle defeated Gallatin’s Ashton Baxter 6-1, 6-0. Miracle went on that evening to defeat Lloyd Memorial’s Diamonique Barnett 6-0, 6-0.

    Miracle moved on to the semifinals, but was defeated by Walton-Verona’s Aman Dail 6-0, 6-0.

  • Lady Raiders softball brings back wins from Grant County

    After getting knocked from the All “A” Classic by Walton-Verona, the Lady Raiders regrouped and nearly brought home a win Thursday against Simon Kenton, but the Lady Pioneers picked up a two-run homer late in the sixth to seal Trimble’s fate in a 10-9 loss.

    There wasn’t much rest time though as the girls played against Cooper and Grant County on Saturday. The Lady Raiders found themselves the victors in both games with scores of 8-3 and 10-8, respectively.

  • Carroll hands Raiders baseball team an early defeat

    The neighboring county rivalry between the Carroll County Panthers and the Trimble County Raiders took on extra meaning for both teams Thursday night.

    Of the hitters for the Panthers in the game, Zack Clifford, Landry Kelton, Logan Rodgers and Luke Staley had previously donned the blue-and-gold trimmed uniforms for the Raiders last season. David Duncan and Chris Perkinson were also former Raiders in the 2016 season.

    And it was indeed those former Raiders that came up with the large plays when it counted Thursday, leading Carroll to a runaway 13-0 victory.

  • Junior high Raiders prevent Walton-Verona from getting a shutout win

    Before the Trimble County junior high Raiders could even get an at bat Saturday afternoon, the Walton-Verona Bearcats had already put them in a hole by six runs. The tale remained the same by the time the fifth inning had concluded and the Bearcats left town with a 20-4 victory.

  • Raiders baseball struggles with Bearcats in foul weather Monday

    The Raiders opened the first round of the All “A” Classic at home Monday evening against the Walton-Verona Bearcats.

    The first time the teams faced off this season was April 1, when the Bearcats walked away after three innings with a 15-0 win. Less than a week later, a chance to continue playing in the tournament bracket was on the line.

  • Lady Raiders fall in first round to foe Walton-Verona

    When the Lady Raiders completed an early season scrimmage against the Walton-Verona Bearcats, they sent their northern Kentucky foe back home with a loss, limiting the team to three runs. As luck would have it, the Bearcats returned the favor against the Lady Raiders, eliminating them from the Eighth Region All “A” Classic in the first round Monday night at Walton-Verona, 8-3.
