  • Christmas presents seem to project interesting ‘theme’

Well, it’s official. I have, apparently, reached middle age.
It must be true, because two of my favorite Christmas gifts this year were a parafin-wax hand spa that my Dear Husband bought for me and a full-back/shoulder shiatsu chair-cushion massager that I bought for him. (Yes, some gifts I buy for him are for me, too.)
Oh, and did I mention the massager also includes heat? Woot!

  • Volunteering is
a great way to show community you care

So, from mid-August to the end of November, it was like living in Southern California – sunny and unseasonably warm weather, with so little rain we had a severe drought.
Now, just barely into December, we’ve had our first major snowstorm of the winter on Saturday and plunging temperatures with wind-chill factors taking them into single digits – and possibly below zero by the time this issue goes to press.
    It’s pretty amazing, I think.

  • Shooting of dog an unnecessary, heinous crime

I  love animals. They hold a huge spot in my heart, and I’ve worked with a group in Carroll County for nearly eight years that tries to find new homes for strays and unwanted or neglected animals there.

I have a soft heart that has resulted in the adoption of many stray animals during my adult life.

Now that you know this about me, imagine how I felt when I first heard a dog had been shot to death in one of our neighborhoods in Trimble County.
