Bedford man pleads not guilty after altercation with state police

A Bedford man faces multiple felonies after allegedly having an altercation with a Kentucky State Police trooper and stabbing a motorist with a butcher knife.

Trooper Ferris from KSP Post 5 in Campbellsburg responded to a complaint of a person causing a disturbance at 11:32 p.m. May 7 on Main Street in Bedford.

When Ferris arrived on scene, Scotty Simpson, 39 of Bedford, was acting erratic and refused to identify himself, according to the arrest report. Simpson fled and disobeyed the trooper’s commands to stop before a Taser was used.
