  • Youth Football League underway

    The Henry and Trimble County Youth Tackle Football League kicked off their season on Saturday, August 18, with the annual Jamboree at the Trimble County Park in Bedford. Over 400 people came to see the young tackle football players make their final preparations for the regular season.

    The games are played at the Henry County Recreation Center and the Trimble County Park on Saturdays through the beginning of November.

  • Raiders fought valiantly in season opener loss at Berea

    The Trimble County High School football team started off its 2012 season more determined than ever after a disappointing loss at Berea High School, 38 - 0, on Friday, August 18.

    Prior to the game, a few Raiders felt somewhat intimidated by the physical size of the Berea players. The pre-game mood was serious and tense as Trimble prepared mentally for an uphill battle.

  • Seasons of growth

    Life unfolds in circles of reconnection. We start childhood in co-dependent bonding process with our immediate family unit and hometown. This may be a positive experience or one that creates a void. Never-the-less, as a individual gets older, there comes a time of nostalgia and a desire to return to one’s roots. The ‘seasons of growth’ is the story one creates to reveal the drama or peace within.

  • Grief mixed with hope

    When people ask me what I do at my job at the newspaper, specifically what topics I write about, I tell them the shorthand version: old people, dead people and God.

    Actually, I cover a lot more than that, but those three - old people, dead people and God - are the three areas that seem to fall to me.

  • McKinney-Mehas earns double degree at Lindsey Wilson College in May

    Lizabeth Flora Ann McKinney-Mehas graduated from Lindsey Wilson College on Saturday, May 12, 2012. The ceremony was held in the Biggers Sport Center on the Lindsey Wilson campus at Columbia, Kentucky. She has a double degree in Human Services and Counseling and Communication.

    Jason Dunn, United States Coast Guard, was promoted to LTComdr. on August 1, 2012.
