  • Lady Raiders repeat as 8th Region All A Champs

    The Trimble County Lady Raiders captured their second consecutive 8th Region All A Classic tournament title over the weekend.

    Following on the heels of a near upset of Oldham County last Thursday, Trimble handily dispensed with Gallatin County, 25-13 and 25-15, in the opening round of the tournament played at Eminence on Saturday.

    Other first round matches saw Carroll County defeating Owen County, 25-23 and 25-10; and Eminence went the distance in two games before escaping with a win, 25-22 and 26-24, over Williamstown.

    In my (albeit feeble) defense, I had just come from undergoing a medical test done under sedation, which may or may not have loosened my tongue. Or maybe it was because I hadn’t eaten in 24 hours and hunger affected my brain.

    Whatever the reason, I said something that embarrassed my husband.

    We had stopped at a local restaurant for a burger. I ordered the thickest, beefiest, cheesiest burger on the menu, plus fries, and my husband ordered a veggie burger and a salad.

  • September designated Preparedness Month in Kentucky

    In conjunction with National Preparedness Month, September has been designated as Commonwealth of Kentucky Preparedness Month. If the lights go out, are you prepared? Local and state officials encourage everyone to be prepared in case of an emergency.

    “Kentuckians face many challenges throughout the year, from tornadoes, flooding, winter storms to man-made hazards,” said Ronnie McCane, Trimble County Emergency Management Director. “Every household should be prepared to face these challenges at any given time.”

    30 Years Ago (Sept. 2, 1982)
     Work is progressing at the construction sight of the LG&E Generating Station at Wise’s Landing.

    Trimble County Raider football team won their opening game for the 1982-83 season over the Wildcats of Henry County by a final score of 14-8.
    Hardy Creek Bridge has been refloored and it stands sturdy for the occasional wild antics of the creek.

    Bedford Baptist Church had a picnic last Sunday at the Trimble County Recreational Park.

  • Tri Kappa Tour of Homes Oct. 12-14

    MADISON, Ind. - Tri Kappa Sorority’s biennial Tour of Homes is set for October 12th-14th, 2012, offering individuals the opportunity to tour eight private homes and historic buildings not ordinarily open for public viewing. Hosts will guide individuals through the homes, detailing items of interest and the history of each home. Included on the tour this year are homes of various architectural styles.  All proceeds from the tour are used for local scholarships and other philanthropic projects.

  • Apple Festival Pie Contest

    The Trimble County Apple Festival Committee will hold its annual Apple Pie Contest on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012.  Judging will take place at 11 a.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church located on the courthouse square in Bedford, Kentucky.

    Rules for the Apple Pie Contest are as Follows:

    1. One entry per person.

    2. Disposable aluminum pie plates must be used!

    3. Please no dairy-Refrigeration is not available.

    4. Entries will be taken from 10-11 a.m. No late entries will be accepted!

    Bedford City Commission  will hold a special meeting at 10 a.m. at Bedford City Hall.
    TCHS boys golf hosts Henry County at Cardinal Hills, 4:30 p.m.
    CPR class today and tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Extension Office Building 43 High Country Lane Bedford. The cost for the Class is $5. No need to call just show up and sign in the day of the class.
