    There is no News of Public Record to report this week. Court services across Kentucky were closed on Tuesday, Sept. 4, as the Kentucky Judicial Branch shut down for the second of three furlough days in 2012. The furloughs are one of several measures included in the Judicial Branch’s Fiscal Year 2013 Budget Reduction Plan.

    Forget what you think you know about marching bands. Skip the half-time trip to the concession stands. Stay put -- and be prepared to listen and learn. This fall, for the first time in the school’s history, Trimble County High School’s Marching Raiders will present an all-classical music field show.

  • Trimble High’s ACT scores 21st in Kentucky

    The results are in -- and this fall Trimble County High School seniors can give themselves a well-deserved pat on the back. ACT (American College Testing) scores for 2011/2012 jumped from 17.3 in recent years to 20.8, which puts Trimble County at 21st out of 229 participating schools statewide this year.

  • IRS changes forms for FSA producers, vendors

    LEXINGTON, Ky. - John W. McCauley, USDA Farm Service Agency State Executive Director, announced last week that calendar year 2012 brings several changes to the way FSA reports a producer’s farm program payments to the producer and to IRS. In past years, IRS Forms 1099-G would be issued to show all program payments received from the Farm Service Agency, regardless of the amount.

  • Pyles offers calculations for estimating winter hay needs

    Winter hay supplies are expected to be short this year due to the extended drought. However, we did receive almost 2 inches of rain this past weekend that will go a long way in kick starting our pastures.  Right now is a good time to estimate the amount of hay you have on hand to see if you have sufficient supplies to meet your winter feeding needs. If you are going to be short, additional hay or feeds will need to be secured or you will have to cull animals from your herd.
