  • Lady Raiders triumph in Carroll County River Classic

    The Trimble County Lady Raiders took their “A Game” to Carrollton Saturday and obliterated the competition to win the Carroll County River Classic volleyball tournament. It was an exhausting day for Trimble’s girls in the eight-team, double-elimination marathon.

    Trimble picked up four wins during a busy day, defeated Grant County—25-17, 25-20; Ludlow—14-25, 26-24, 25-12; Meade County—25-14, 25-20; and Carroll County—25-14, 25-21 in the championship.

    Many couples are creating their own version of wedding vows. My husband and I just got back from a trip to Chicago to my youngest son’s wedding. Kevin and his new bride are a part of this intentional movement to give conscientious thought to the commitments they are making to one another. I want to share with you the promises they expressed as reasons to choose to spend the rest of their lives together. Here is part of their wedding ceremony:

    30 Years Ago (Sept. 30, 1982)
    Trimble County High School’s Football Homecoming will be tomorrow night. There will be a parade at 5:30 with several units participating. The Band Boosters will be sponsoring a chili supper beginning around 5.

    Insurance rates go down as Fire Department ratings go up. Milton Fire Dept. just passed an inspection and their rating went from class nine to a class Ten. This happens when a department adds equipment, puts in fire hydrants and learns how much water they can deliver.

    One of the truly great inventions of the modern era is the DVR.

    I love mine with all my heart, mind, soul and strength.

    Last week I watched a movie I had recorded called “Sins of the Mother,” about the relationship between a young woman and her formerly abusive, alcoholic mother.

    Wednesday, Sept. 26
    Stop smoking classes will be at the Trimble Co Health Department every Wednesday, starting Sept. 26 thru Dec. 12, 2012.  This is the Cooper Clayton Method and it is a 12 weeks course.  Materials and Nicotine replacements provided.  Times are 6-7 p.m.

  • Fire roasts Milton cornfield

    At 4 p.m., Monday, Milton and Bedford Fire Departments responded to the report of a field fire on Riverview Drive on the Milton hilltop. The fire was located in a field east of the Milton Fire Station No. 1 and west of Moffett Cemetery.

    Firefighters arriving on the scene found a large cornfield on fire. The fire quickly spread to around 40 acres of the cornfield, from which the crop had recently been harvested.

  • Trimble alumni to roast J.T. Peniston at banquet

    Longtime Trimble County educator and coach J.T. Peniston will be the special guest of honor during a “Celebrity Roast” as the featured entertainment of the Trimble County Alumni Association Banquet, on Saturday, October 27, at the Bedford Elementary School.
