  • Owen woman charged with attempted murder

    An Owen County woman has been arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers from Post 5 after she attempted to shoot her father.  Heather Hammond, 35 years old from Glencoe, was arrested Thursday afternoon by Trooper Dave Roberts, according to Trooper Brad Arterburn, Post 5 Public Information Officer.

    Preliminary investigation shows that Heather Hammond, who is the daughter of Owen County Sheriff Zemer Hammond, pointed a loaded weapon at her father while at his home in Corinth, on October 5. When she attempted to shoot, the weapon jammed and did not fire.

  • Trimble harriers running strong as season nears end

    The Trimble County High School Runnin’ Raiders have been forcing the competition to scramble to keep up in recent outings.

    Trimble was in action Saturday in the South Oldham Dragon Invitational. The Runnin’ Raider boys took fifth place overall in a meet dominated large schools. Christian Apel had Trimble’s top time with 17:58.13 for the 5K distance. Conner Ball timed in at 18:11.17; Kyle Puckett, 18:37.56; Tray Robbins, 10:03.85; Brennan Kunkel, 20:15.24; and Johnathan Papai, 20:26.66.

    It’s no surprise to people who know me that I am not a fancy Nancy.

    I’m not plain, and I am (I hope) feminine, but I’m definitely not lacy, doily, flowery foo-foo.

    I’m so not a princess.

    That said, I’m constantly getting invited to women’s events that border on the fancy. This past weekend, I was with a group of women at a nearby Victorian hotel, which has fancy in its very structure.
