  • Board members hear updates of school construction work

    During a special meeting of the Trimble County School Board, members of the board toured the new athletic complex and examined renovations to the Trimble County High School gym roof.

    Architect Stan Klausing, representative of project firm Scott-Klausing and Company, advised board members that roofing repairs are on hold due to some concerns about worker safety on the low slope roof area.

  • Alumni banquet Saturday

    Former students and teaching colleagues of J.T. Peniston will present a “Celebrity Roast” during this Saturday’s Trimble County Alumni Banquet. The “roast” of the longtime Trimble County educator and coach will be the featured entertainment of the banquet at the Bedford Elementary School. The event begins with a “Meet and Greet” gathering at 5 p.m., followed by the meal at 6 p.m.

  • Mullins pleads guilty to 2008 Trimble murder

    A Trimble County man has pleaded guilty to a 2008 murder in Milton.  Clester E. “Cletus” Mullins, 37 years old from Milton, pleaded guilty Monday to the Dec. 6, 2008 murder of Steven Michael “Catfish” Jones.

    Mullins was arrested on Jan. 15, 2009, by Detective Todd Harwood on charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence. The tampering with physical evidence charge stemmed from Mullins’ having moved the body from the crime scene and dumped into a ravine near the Ohio River.

  • Prank 911 call trouble for Carroll boys

    Two boys who made a prank call to Carroll County 911 last week could face a felony charge. The boys reported that a 16-year-old girl had been shot in English, but the call was false.

    Carroll County Central Dispatch received a call at 1:59 p.m. that a 16-year-old girl had been shot. The caller was hysterical and the dispatcher was unable to get an address before the caller hung up. However, the dispatch center’s technology allowed the dispatcher to determine the call came from Rail Street in English.
