  • Runnin’ Raiders on to state!

    The Trimble County High School cross country team enjoyed an outstanding day at the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s Region 5 Class A Meet in Danville Saturday. Trimble took top honors in the region in the boys’ run and finished second overall in the girls’ run.

    “I thought that the entire team rose to the occasion and ran well,” Trimble Coach David Apel said Monday. “We were very happy with our performances Saturday at the Regional meet.”

    There were 3,579 persons voting –53 percent of those registered in the county.

    President—Mitt Romney, 2,133; Barack Obama, 1,355; Jill Stein, 16; Randall Terry, 11; Gary Johnson, 25.

    U.S. House District 4 General—Thomas Massie, 1,805; Wm. Adkins, 1,470; David Lewis, 126.

    U.S. House District 4 Unexpired Special —Thomas Massie, 1,727; Wm. Adkins, 1,424; David Lewis, 127.

    State Representative 47th District—T.K. Broecker, 990; Rick Rand, 2,527.

  • Don’t text and drive: Distracted drivers cause accidents and death

    Most of us have experienced distractions of one sort or another while driving, but did you know the consequences you might face if your distractions cause an accident? In Kentucky, all drivers are now prohibited by law from texting while driving. The law was signed in 2010. In 2011, 176 people were killed in distracted driver-related accidents in the state.
