• Paul E. Wood, 73

    HANOVER, Ind., – Paul E. “Woody” Wood, 73, of Hanover died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

    Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 24, at the First Assembly of God in Madison, Ind., with Pastors Chuck Lynch and Steve Perry officiating. Burial was in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison.

    Mr. Wood was born May 9, 1935, in Carrollton, Ky., to the late Richard Sydney and Mary Elizabeth Wood.

    He was a 1954 graduate of Carroll County High School, he attended Eastern Kentucky University.

  • Charles C. Skirvin, 42

    WORTHVILLE, Ky. – Charles C. Skirvin, 42, of Worthville died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at his residence.

    A memorial service was held Jan. 22, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton. Cremation was chosen by the family.

    Mr. Skirvin was born in Sacremento, Calif., May 31, 1966, to Curt Skirvin of Carrollton, Ky., and Jeannie Delopulos of Carson City, Nev. He was a quality control inspector for Doorman Products in Worthville. He obtained a GED in 1992 and a welding certificate from Ivy Tech State College in Madison, Ind.

  • Raymond Lee Norris, 78

    MIDLAND, Mich. – Raymond Lee Norris, 78, of Midland died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, in his home.

    Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler, Midland.

    Mr. Norris was born Aug. 25, 1930, in North Star, Mich., to the late Ernest and Hazel (Miller) Norris. He married Shirley Barnikow on June 14, 1952, in Angola, Ind.

    In 1987, he retired after 32 working for the Dow Corning Corporation. Previously, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Missouri.

  • Jacoby Clyde Johnson, 19

    MADISON, Ind. – Jacoby Clyde “Kobe” Johnson, 19, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, from injuries resulting from a multi-vehicle accident on State Road 62 near Chelsea, Ind.

    Services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at Morgan and Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison, with the Revs. Jim Cox and Mike Shuler.

    Visitation was 3-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, and from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home.

  • Zaira Jordan Weaver, infant

    Zaira Jordan Weaver, 6-months-old, Bedford, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

    Born July 8, 2008, she was the daughter of Josh and Samantha (Abbott) Weaver.

    Zaira, whose name means “forever in bloom,” was born with a serious heart defect that led to two open-heart surgeries, gastro-intestinal surgery and susceptibility to infection.

  • Rose Mary Airington Howard, 61

    Rose Mary Airington Howard, 61, of Milton, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009 at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange.

    Born July 8, 1947, she was the daughter of Joe and Margaret Airington.

    She enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.

  • Don A. Procter, 47

    CARROLLTON, Ky, – Don A. Proctor, 47, of Carrollton died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident on State Hwy. 36 West, near Carrollton.

    Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23 at Crossroads Church, 4835 Hwy. 421 North, Bedford, Ky., with the Rev. Larry Franklin officiating. Cremation was chosen by the family.

    Mr. Proctor was born in Carrollton April 26, 1961, to William Ovid and Minnie Alice (Law) Proctor.

    He was a member of Crossroads Church in Bedford and was a self-employed construction worker.

  • Della Mae Wilson, 83

    CARROLLTON, Ky. – Della Mae Wilson, 83, of Carrollton died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at her residence.

    Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 19, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton, with the Revs. Jesse Baxter and Johnny Haynes officiating. Burial was in the Carrollton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

    Mrs. Wilson was born in Carrollton March 10, 1925, to the late Jesse and Margaret Y. (Kelly) Baxter.

    She was a member of the Carrollton Wesleyan Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Rebecca Lodge.

    She was a homemaker.

  • Charles W. Congleton, 72

    Charles W. Congleton, 72, Lexington, Ky., died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington.

    Born March 5, 1936, in Sulphur, Kentucky, he was the son of Guy and Nannie Lee (Farley) Congleton.

    He was a graduate of University of Kentucky and had worked as a professional engineer, who founded C.M.T.A., until his retirement.

    He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force for 5 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and working with his hands. He also very much enjoyed spending time with his wife, three children and six grandchildren.

  • Ray Cavett, 74

    Ray Cavett, 74, of Madison, Ind., died Monday Jan. 12, 2009 at Peace River Medical Center in Port Charlotte, Fla.

    Born May 2, 1934 in Jefferson County, Ind., he was the son of Alva H. and Amy L. Brittenback Cavett.

    He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. He retired from Envirex in 1993 after 34 years of service. He was the owner/operator of Ray’s Body Refinishing. He loved Florida and spent his winters there for the past several years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and college basketball, fishing, boating and playing cards with his family.
