Wilson is regional shot put champ

The Trimble County High School track and field team competed in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s Region 5 Meet Saturday, hosted by Lexington Christian High School. While Trimble’s boys failed to field enough competitors for a team score, Trimble’s women placed sixth with 28 points among their Class A counterparts. Danville took first place with 112 points followed by Nicholas, Owen, Lexington Christian, and Burgin teams.
Individual results for Trimble’s girls included the following:
Shelby Papai paced 11th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.38 seconds and Madison Jones placed 14th with a time of 16.08 seconds.
Jones placed 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 31.62 seconds and placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of one minute and 14 seconds.
Eliza Weston placed fourth in the 1600-meter run with a time of six minutes and four seconds and placed third in the 3200-meter run with a time of thirteen minutes and 26 seconds.
Jones placed 10th in long jump with a distance of 10 feet and 11.75 inches.
Bonnie Wilson won the girls’ shot put event throwing a distance of 31 feet and five inches. Kayla Jones placed 11th with a throw of 22 feet and one inch.
Wilson took third place in the girls’ discus throw event, with a throw of 76 feet and one inch. Jones took 11th place with a throw of 61 feet.
Individual results among Trimble’s boys included the following:
Paul Bird placed 15th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.91 seconds and 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.97 seconds.
Isaac Schwarz took 13th place in the 400-meter dash with a time of one minute and three seconds.
Quentin Huff took eighth place in the 1600-meter run with a time of five minutes and 19 seconds and placed 12th in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12 minutes and 35 seconds.
The boys’ 4x100 meter relay team placed 7th with a time of 57.33 seconds. The team included Bird, Tucker Holmes, Noah Napier, and Dominic Johnson.
The boys’ 4x200-meter relay team placed 8th with a time of one minute and 56 seconds. The team included Johnson, Holmes, Napier and Bird.
Schwarz placed 10th in long jump with a jump of 13 feet and 11 inches.
Ryker Matthews took 12th place in the shot put event, throwing 41 feet and two inches. Paris Steffen placed 13th with a throw of 31 feet and one inch.
Steffen placed 11th in the discus event with a throw of 91 feet and 4 inches. Matthews placed 14th with a throw of 66 feet and one inch.
