Raiders reflect on historic 1968-69 basketball season

In the fall of 1968, President Lyndon Baines Johnson occupied the White House during the height of a conflict to prevent communism from taking over South Vietnam in Southeast Asia. A group of young men from Trimble County had become engaged in that war in October with the Kentucky National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery, based in Carrollton. Other Trimble countians were combatants in that war with various military units.
