On Tuesday, March 25 at approximately 9:26 a.m., Oldham County Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Interstate 71 south bound near the Gene Snyder Freeway.

When police arrived they located a multi-vehicle collision in Oldham County approximately 1/2 mile before the Jefferson County Line. The collision involved a total of five vehicles; a box truck, a semi-tractor trailer, and three passenger vehicles.

The initial investigation indicated traffic was slowing, or stopped, due to road work.

The box truck failed to come to a stop and impacted a Chrysler 200 being operated by Sherri Bray, 48yr old female from Pendleton, forcing the vehicle under the semi trailer. Bray died at the scene from the injuries she sustained.

Three people from other vehicles were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation did not reveal any indication of alcohol or drug involvement and no charges are anticipated at this time.

The roadway remained closed for several hours while the collision was investigated. According to Andrea Clifford, spokesperson for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the southbound lanes were reopened to traffic at 4:45 p.m.
