LG&E permit approved

Special to The Trimble Banner
Louisville Gas & Electric Trimble County Power Station has been approved to build a 189 acres landfill on their 2000 acres in Wises Landing.
LG&E originally applied for necessary permits in 2011 to construct 97 acres to be used for discarding fly ash, a byproduct from burning coal. Kentucky Division of Waste Management found the permit to be insufficient and denied it in 2012. There were numerous studies done, one of which was what is called the Wentworth Cave thought to be part of the Underground Railroad.
