Lane closures on Milton-Madison Bridge this week

-A A +A

There will be two separate overnight lane closures on the Milton-Madison Bridge this week as construction crews perform additional work following the historic slide of the bridge and its reopening last month. The bridge will be reduced to one lane, but will remain open, while the following work is being done:

  • 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 – 6 a.m. Thursday, May 8 – One lane will be closed while crews make small adjustments to some bearings and secure them in their final locations.
  • 9 p.m. Thursday, May 8 – 6 a.m. Friday, May 9 – One lane will be closed while crews replace a sliding plate in one of the truss bearings.

Construction crews continue to perform additional work following the reopening, which includes completion of the pier caps, removal of the temporary piers, installation of measures to protect the refurbished piers and some painting. As a result, the bridge is still considered a work zone and has a speed limit of 20 miles per hour. Drivers will also encounter some occasional lane shifts. Motorists are urged to proceed with caution while the bridge remains an active work zone.
