Trimble County’s dominance was tested only once in Saturday’s Class A Volleyball Tournament at Williamstown. With simultaneous action happening on dual courts the Lady Raiders opened the tournament by easily sidelining Eminence with scores of 25-12 and 25-13. At the same time Owen County battled to wins of 25-20 and 25-19 over Carroll County. In the other first-round game, Walton-Verona beat the host team 25-21 and 25-16.

Trimble advanced to face Owen and dispatched the Lady Rebels by scores of 25-20 and 25-8. That set up the match for the championship between the Lady Raiders and Walton-Verona. Trimble topped WV in the first game by a 25-20 score. The Lady Bearcats turned the tables on the Lady Raiders in the second match. Trimble fell by a score of 18-25.

That set up a best of three scenario for the championship. The Lady Raiders came out fired up and went on to a 25-13 romp for the title.
Trimble junior Kelsie Courtney was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Sophomore Paige Black, junior Hannah Roberts and senior Sara Kuner were also named to the All-Tournament Team from the Lady Raiders’ squad.

According to Trimble County High School Principal Stirling “Buddy” Sampson the Lady Raiders advances to compete in the First Region All A Classic Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 10 in Paducah.
