The Connector Road bridge project will take some extra time before traffic can begin using the new crossing.

The bridge, which was supposed to reach substantial completion by July 1, has faced several weather delays from heavy rains this spring and the recent round of inclement weather, said Andrea Clifford, public information officer for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Despite the delays, crews from Louisville Paving have continued to make headway, setting the bridge beams last Thursday. The workers will shift focus to constructing the deck and working on connecting the approaches.

As of press time, an opening date has not been established, Clifford said.

“The roadway approaches and guardrail will have to be complete before we can safely open the road to traffic,” said Clifford.
