Trimble senior second baseman Kate Staples puts the tag on a Grant County runner before throwing to first for a double play during Monday nights' "Strike Out Cancer" game at Bedford. Senior shortstop Kaylee Clifford backs up the play. The Lady Raiders played good solid defense to defeat the Lady Braves by a 6-1 score. Trimble scored a run in the first inning after Clifford hit a leadoff double. Starting pitcher Abby Ponder later hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Clifford. The Lady Braves scored their only run in the top of the fourth inning. Trimble added two runs across the plate in the bottom of the fifth after Kalia Lira and Kaylee Burns walked to start off the inning. Haylee Howard hit a sacrifice grounder down the first base line to advance the runners. Gracie Bromwell came in as a pinch runner for Burns. Clifford then powered a double to left field driving in both runners. The next two batters struck out to end the inning. Trimble added three runs in the bottom of the sixth on five hits and a walk and stranded two runners. The Lady Raiders, 8-13 on the season were back in action last night, entertaining Gallatin County.
