  • Trimble shines in local meets

    Trimble County’s Runnin’ Raiders hosted two meets in cross country last week. In Tuesday’s outing both Trimble teams took first place. In Saturday’s larger meet, Trimble’s girls again took the top spot while the boys took third place behind North Oldham and Owen County.

    Trimble’s Erin Gonterman took first place overall in both girls’ competitions.

    Trimble junior Christian Apel finished second in Tuesday’s race and seventh among the boys on Saturday. Full details will be published next week.

  • Raiders suffer 57-6 Homecoming...

    In their October 5 homecoming game, the Trimble County Raiders took yet another hit on the football field, losing 57-6 to the Owen County Rebels.

    Kickoff was followed by a fierce attack by the Raiders against their Rebel opponents, whom many considered faster and physically larger than the home team.

  • District Tournament loss closes...

    North Oldham rolled into the Trimble County High School gymnasium for the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s 29th District Volleyball Tournament Monday and closed the door on another marvelous season by the Trimble County Lady Raiders.

    The Lady Mustangs squelched Trimble’s hopes for advancement by handing the Lady Raiders three straight setbacks: 15-25, 11-25 and 14-25 on Monday.

    Eminence High School scored a victory over the Trimble County High School football team Friday, September 28, with a score 40-6. The first quarter began with repeated missed opportunities by the Raiders to take control of the ball.

    The post-game coaches’ comments told the story in a nutshell following last Wednesday’s high school volleyball matchup between visiting Carroll County and Trimble County:

    “We played terrible!”

    “We came out ready to play!”

    A quick look at the final scores is an indication of which comment belongs to which coach. Trimble dismantled the Lady Panthers quickly by scores of 25-8 and 25-17.

  • CAC defeats Portland Christian,...

    The Christian Academy of Carrollton junior varsity volleyball team, coached by Laura Nelson, is off to a good start on their 2012 season.

    On Friday, Sept. 14, CAC played Portland Christian Academy in Louisville. CAC beat PCS in the first set, 25–16. The second set went into overtime with PCS winning 27-25. The third set was the tie-breaker with CAC pulling out with the win 15-9.
