    Three “Runnin’ Raiders” will be competing Saturday in the Class A State Cross Country Meet in Lexington. Seniors Brennan Kunkel and Johnathan Papai and seventh grader Eliza Weston qualified for the prestigious event based on their performances last Saturday in the Class A Region 5 Meet held at Masterson Station Park in Lexington.

    The Carroll Count Panthers secured a spot in the district playoffs Friday night, defeating Trimble County 52-22 at Panther Field. With a week 11 bye, the Raiders end the season winless, 0-10.
    Trimble head coach Justin Franklin said it was more disappointing not being in the playoffs than it was being shutout this season.

  • Bearcats hammer Trimble, 49-14

    The Trimble County Raiders were tripped up by Walton-Verona, 49-14, Friday in the Raiders’ final home outing of the 2015 season.
    The temperatures were dropping when the 0-8 Raiders hosted the 3-4 Bearcats. The Raiders entered the contest scoring an average of just 7.5 points per game while the Bearcats were scoring about 23 points per game. The Bearcats had opened the season at 0-4, but won their last three consecutive games before coming to play the Raiders.

    The Trimble County Lady Raiders closed their regular season with a 2-0 win over Williamstown Tuesday, Oct. 13. In the process Trimble feted two seniors who made the final home appearance of their high school volleyball careers.
    The Lady Raiders eked out a 28-26 win in the first game before settling down to win the second game, 25-10.

    On Volley for a Cure night Trimble County ran into a tough Walton-Verona team as the Lady Raiders dropped a 2-0 (25-17, 25-19) match October 7.
    “Walton-Verona is a good team,” Trimble County head Coach Ruth Staples said. “They have more wins this season than anyone else in the region.”
