  • Lady Panthers end season with...

    This past weekend, the 18-9 Carroll County High School Lady Panthers headed into the All-A state tournament.

    They fell Friday to Metcalfe County, 25-22 and 27-25; they went on to put up a good fight, but still lost to Allen Central in three games, 25-20 (Allen), 19-25 (Carroll) and 25-18 (Allen).

    Their luck didn’t change Saturday, and they lost to Saint Patrick, 25-18 and 25-14, then putting Raceland through their paces. Raceland came out the winner, taking two of three games for the match.

  • Runnin’ Raiders...

    The Lexington Catholic Invitational looked more like an October state cross country championship than a normal Saturday race.

    Nine of the top ten ranked teams in Class A along with four top teams from Class AA division toed to the line this past Saturday morning in Lexington at the Kentucky Horse Park, home of the Kentucky State Cross Country Championship.

  • Varsity and JV suffer end of...

    Some say you can tell how well a future varsity club will do in the future based on how well the underclassman perform. If that is true, the future of Trimble County volleyball is looking excellent because of the young ladies of the freshman team.

    This season’s youngest Trimble County High School Raider team consisted of six freshmen - Sarah Caswell, Mckenzie Dunlap, Courtney Modesty, Sara Kuner, Jayde Snelling and Kindra Wittaker.

  • Note to team - leave the popcorn...

    Trimble County students were out of classes this week because of fall break. But while everyone, including the high school’s football team, was enjoying the break, the fun had to end sometime.

    Little did everyone know it would come to a screeching halt just before 8 p.m. Friday night.

    That was when the Raiders hosted the fourth-ranked Frankfort Panthers in a district match that ended with a crushing 6-56 loss for the home team.

  • CCHS cross-country meet results

    Carroll County High School hosted a cross country meet Tuesday, Sept. 23, at General Butler State Resort Park.

     

    CCHS Results

     

    Junior varsity or middle school 2,500-meter mixed run: Taylor Hill, 13:44.0, 23rd place.

     

    Varsity girls 5K run: Nikki Hill, 25:31.4,ninth place; Mikaila Woods, 27:29.6, 15th place; and Andrea Hardesty, 27:30.9, 16th place.

  • They came, they saw and they...

    Fans might have thought they were witnessing a running clinic when the Trimble County Raiders and Carroll County Panthers met Friday night for Trimble County football homecoming. It was a bad night for the Raider fans as the border rival Panthers walked off the field with a 45-26 win at the end of the fourth quarter.

    Throughout the game, the Raiders had trouble containing sophomore Zach Wise, who had 29 carries for 242 yards and four touchdowns. The individual effort by Wise made a tough situation worse for the Raiders.

  • Runnin’ Raiders travel...

    The Runnin’ Raiders ran in the Madison Courier Invitational this weekend.

    The race was held Sept. 27 at Hanover College, the NCAA Division III National College Championship XC course. Teams such as Silver Creek (IN), Switzerland County (IN), Madison (IN), Austin (IN), Scottsburg (IN), Charlestown (IN), New Washington (IN), Shawe Memorial (IN), Rising Sun (IN), Carroll County (KY), and Southwestern (IN) competed in the meet.

  • Never say quit

    It took 15 years, but Juan Fernandez won his first Jim Ramsey Tennis Tournament this past weekend.

    The tournament, an annual event for 28 years, was held Saturday, Sept. 27,  at the county’s Robert M. Westrick Memorial Park. The tournament is named for Ramsey, a fellow Carroll County High School alumni of organizer Doug Fothergill’s, who died in an an automobile accident two years after graduation.
