  • Runnin’ Raiders...

    The Runnin’ Raiders closed their regular race schedule Oct. 25 at the St. Henry Invitational in Florence, Ky. The race featured top ranked Class A schools such as #1 ranked St. Henry, #2 Walton Verona, #4 ranked Lexington Christian and several top ranked Division AAA teams.

    The #3 ranked Lady Raiders ended the regular season on a positive note, finishing fifth overall in the highly competitive meet attended by 15 teams. The Raiders tallied 138 points and a team average of 21:31.

  • Panther Select team puts all-...

    The under-10 Panther Select baseball team finished its season Tuesday, July 29, with a bang, putting the Carroll County minor league all-star team through its paces as the team gears up for tournament season.

    Both teams consist of players under 10 years old; but the Panther Select team, with 9- and 10-year-olds, has been playing together since March. The extra experience was obvious at the  July 22 scrimmage at Robert Westrick Memorial Park.

  • Runnin’ Raiders fall...

    The North Central Kentucky Conference (NCKC) has developed into a cross country powerhouse of competition over the last several years. The NCKC has produced 1 state individual champion, 1 state runner-up individual, 15 first team all-state runners, 10 second team all state runners, 1 team state championship, 3 team state runner-ups, and a flurry of all-region runners. The NCKC teams are Gallatin County, Carroll County, Williamstown, Henry County, Owen County, Walton Verona, and Trimble County.

  • Cinderella story ends too soon...

    The Lady Raiders high school volleyball team could not have picked a better time to play as a team when the Trimble group traveled to Carroll County to face off against the rival Panther squad Oct. 13. The match opened the 29th District playoffs where Trimble County bested the Panthers, 25-19 and 25-21, before falling to Oldham County to end their tournament dreams.

  • Henry County dampens high...

    Homecoming brought out a lot of emotion, family and friends as everyone came together to watch the Carroll County Panthers play football on a beautiful fall night.

    It’s a chance for recent grads to come home and show off their college status and other returning alumni to visit with friends and show off their children.  This past Friday was all that and more, except for a win.

    The Henry County Wildcats are big, and when they came into town many whispered, ‘the Panthers will be lucky to score against them.’

    Lights, camera, action!

    With local television cameras rolling North Oldham hosted the Raiders Oct. 17, putting Trimble County in the spotlight and on the offensive in a home opener in the new North stadium.

  • Trimble XC finds limited success...

    The Raider cross country team traveled to Owen County Oct. 14 to compete against student athletes from Owen and Henry counties, as well as Eminence Independent and Williamstown school districts.

    In the junior varsity 3K race, Trimble teams finished in first in the men and women’s divisions.

    Erin Gonterman was the first of 20 girls to cross the line, finishing in 10:51. Olivia Cooley, Kirsten Baird and Morgan Chappell rounded out the top 4.

  • Seniors claim victory in Powder...

    Small towns come alive every fall as homecoming festivities are held all over the state, and Carrollton is no different.  

    Last week Carroll County High School was abuzz with activities every day leading up to the powder puff football game on Thursday evening and the “big game” on Friday night.

    Freshman girls played the juniors and the sophomores played the seniors for the elimination games and then the juniors took on the seniors for the final game and bragging rights.

  • Trimble’s Runnin&...

    Trimble County performed well at the NCKC Cross Country meet held Oct. 7 at Bedford Elementary School. Coming in to the race, Walton-Verona’s girls were ranked second in the state and their boys were third, however the Runnin’ Raiders bested them and other competitors, including Carroll, Owen and Gallatin counties and Eminence Independent, to win four first place awards in team scoring.

  • Panthers blast by Owen's...

    The Owen County Rebels and the Carroll County Panthers met on the gridiron last Friday night, and the Panthers came out on top, 21-7.

    Playing on their home field, the Panthers took control early with an interception by Cody Boles; Panther Zach Wise then scored with 8:45 left on the clock in the first quarter.  

    The point after by Josh Kates was good, and the Panthers were off with a 7-0 lead.

    Senior quarterback Casey Cable worked hard on both sides of the ball as he broke up plays and threw with precision.
