  • Lady Panthers have tough time on...

    The Lady Panthers played two games on the road and lost back to back games to the Lady Rebels on both sides of the river.

    On Friday, the Lady Panthers traveled to rival Owen County Lady Rebels’ home court and lost a heart breaker in overtime by one.

    Sophomore Kyndal Curry led the Lady Panthers with 12 points and six rebounds.

    Carroll County led the first quarter 19-10 and took a 27-17 lead into the locker room at the half.

  • Lady Raiders record first win of...

    Following a close game against Gallatin County in the Dec. 1 season opener and a flogging by Carroll County just four days later, the Lady Raiders were ready for battle when they took the floor Monday night against Grant County. And battle they did, as the team recorded their first win of the season, 53-42, in front of a home crowd.

  • Raiders lose to Wildcats in...

    The Raiders started the 2008 basetball season by hosting Henry County Dec. 2 in a thriller that came down to concentration at the free throw line. The season opener was preceeded by freshman and JV games, with Trimble winning both.

    Showing great enthusiasm on the hardwood, the Raiders started the first quarter with a 6-2 run. With well executed plays, the team ended the first period leading 13-6.

  • Lady Panthers pounce on Trimble...

    The Carroll County Lady Panthers revved it up Friday night and completely shut down the Lady Raiders of Trimble County.

    It was the first home game of the season for the Lady Panthers; the fans – and the Panthers’ smothering defense were present and accounted for.

    Head Coach Randy Mefford said he had written the word “Intensity” on the blackboard in the locker room prior to the game, and it was evident that his team had taken it to heart. The final score saw the Lady Panthers on top, 54-25.

  • TC Raiders take victory at CCHS...

    The Trimble County Raiders, Carrollton's border rival, came into the Panther home court last Thursday and got off to a blistering start.

    “They were hitting and we weren’t hitting ours,” Head Coach Carroll Yager said. “We made some good adjustments, and we were able to cut the lead to two points.”

    The first quarter ended with the Panthers down 19-9, but at one point the score was 16-2.

    “The game was closer than the score indicates, because at the end we had to foul to get the ball back,” Yager added.

  • Black and Gold scrimmage...

    The Panthers and Lady Panthers were let loose Tuesday night for the Black and Gold scrimmage, and everyone went home winners.

    “This was a fun night for Lady Panther and Panther basketball,” Lady Panther head coach Randy Mefford said.  This is a night when we get to showcase what our kids can do and friends and family can come and get a preview of the season.

  • Ballinger named Mid-South...

    Whitney Ballinger is flying high with the Campbellsville University Lady Tigers, since being named the Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball player of the week.

    The 2006 graduate of Carroll County High School and former Lady Panther received the honor last week after averaging 15.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and three assists in three Campbellsville wins last week, according to the university’s Web site.

    Ballinger spent the holiday weekend at home in Carrollton with her parents, Gerald and Elaine.

  • From Raiders to Panthers

    Former Trimble County High School football stars Justin Hawkes and Corey Jones are shinning bright outside their hometown.

    Since graduating last year, Hawkes has taken his Raider experience across the river to play safety for Hanover College in Indiana. And Jones now holds his own as a defensive tackle for Kentucky Wesleyan.

  • With 10 returning varsity...

    The Carroll County Lady Panthers are looking forward to a new season, with 10 of 12 varsity players returning and experience galore in post-season play.

    The girls team ended the 2007-08 season as North Central Kentucky Conference champions and runner up in the 31st District tournament.

    “Our main loss from last season is point-guard Amber Girdy, a member of the All 8th Region team,” Head Coach Randy Mefford in an interview last week. “She averaged 11 points per game, three assists and three steals.”

  • Lady Panthers team, coaches host...

    The coaching staff and players of the Lady Panthers will join junior Panther coaches for a girls junior Panther basketball clinic from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 at Carroll County High School.

    The clinic for teams in first through fourth grades is 4 to 5:30 p.m. The clinic for teams in grades five and six is 5:30 until 7 p.m.

    The clinic will focus on the fundamental skills of the game to help the girls become better players.
