  • Panthers take 3rd in tourney

    The Carroll County High School Panthers burned up the hardwood at  the Gallatin Steel Invitational, winning three of four games played in the tournament hosted by Gallatin County High School during Christmas break.

    The Panthers coasted to victory over Spencer County 58-32, after besting Dayton in the opener, 61-59, in overtime.

    Carroll then met the Iroquois Raiders of Louisville and made a good showing against a very tall, quick and physical team. The Panthers lost, 47-58. The Raiders beat Meade County by 20 points, Spencer County by 37 and Dayton by 39.

  • Lady Panthers host, win NAS...

    The Lady Panthers knocked off two good teams on their march toward a win over Owen County in the North American Stainless Classic on Tuesday, Dec. 23.

    “This was a total team effort,” said Head Coach Randy Mefford. “It was a really hard-fought game, and it was tied at 39-all with three minutes to go. We shut them down, totally, winning the game 46-39. This was some pretty tough competition.”

  • Raider boys fall 40-74 to Owen...

    Tuesday night the Raiders traveled to Owenton to face the Owen County Rebels in a conference match up. Though the Raiders came in the game with high hopes of beating a top conference team following their win against rival Carroll County a week before, Owen shattered that dream 40-74.

  • Focused less on offense, Trimble...

    Trimble County absolutely tormented Kentucky Country Day when the Raiders played host to the Bearcats Dec. 11. The Raiders came in to the game with focus and ultimately pulled off a big win, 83-59.

    Last winter, Trimble County met KCD on the court but left empty-handed with an overtime loss that may have been won with better concentration at the free throw line. This time around, the team was determined not to make the same mistakes.

  • Sisenstein, Weedman garner...

    The Carroll County Panther football team is still garnering awards as the 2A District 5 and the North Central Kentucky Conference gave out honors recently.

    First year player, junior Andy Sisenstein, was named 2A District 5 player of the year and Coach Mike Weedman was named coach of the year in the district and also the NCKC co-coach of the year along with Tim Browning of Gallatin County.

  • Carroll County Panthers have...

    The Panthers and Lady Panthers played a hectic schedule this past weekend, as both are involved in tournaments over Christmas break.

    The teams faced border rival Gallatin County, Thursday and Friday, in two hotly contested games, winning both in overtime.

    The Lady Panthers went into double overtime before they pulled away from the Lady Wildcats 48-44.

  • Panthers win contest over Owen...

    The Carroll County Panthers traveled to Owen County to take on the Rebels Thursday and got out with a win.

    “The team played very good defense holding them to only 44 points,” Head Coach Carroll Yager said. “We had excellent execution and we played unselfishly.”

  • Pirates hold Trimble captive in...

    It was the first tournament of the season for the Raiders and it didn’t end well, as the boys fell to Campbellsville 54-65 in the Derby City Classic Dec. 13.

    The Raiders kept the game close until the final period of play, but the Pirates proved to be too much.

  • Raiders get first win of season...

    Watching rivals Trimble and Carroll counties go head to head in any sport is always entertaining and last Thursday’s boys basketball game was no different. When it was all over, the Raiders had regained the confidence they lacked in a match-up two days prior against the Henry County Wildcats and brought home the win 67-57.

  • In Your Face

    The 4-3 Trimble County Raiders took on Oldham County in a double header Dec. 19 that featured the boys and girls varsity teams. Following their 59-48 victory against the Colonels, the boys went on to defeat Walton Verona the following night. They will play in the National Guard Holiday Classic at Larue County beginning Dec. 27. The girls fell to the Colonels 42-49 before losing to Carroll County in the North American Stainless Classic the next night. The Lady Raiders, 1-5 on the season, will return to play Jan. 2 at home against Whitefield Academy.
