  • Demons exorcised in 60-43 Raider...

    The Trimble County High School boys hosted the Williamstown Demons last Saturday night in an exciting 60-43 win before a packed house.

    The win was the beginning of a boy/girl homecoming double header, with the guys taking the court first. Tradionally the night would have featured a triple header with freshman, junior varsity and varsity action; however, game cancellations caused by recent snowfalls gave fans the first all varsity night in years.

  • Girls lose to South Oldham, 37-42

    The Lady Panthers traveled down Interstate 71 to South Oldham High School on Monday, Feb. 2, and lost a hard-fought game against the Lady Demons , 37-42.

    The Lady Panthers got off to a slow start, finishing the first period at 7-12, but were able to come back in the second period.

    They went to the locker room down by only two points at the half.

    The third quarter was a rough one for the Lady Panthers, who scored only nine to South Oldham’s 14 points.

  • Panthers break slump with KCD win

    A win on the road was exactly what the Panther varsity basketball team needed to get out of its slump, and is what they got at Kentucky Country Day School last week.

    The Carroll County High School boys team pulled off a thriller against KCD Jan. 26, finding themselves down by 10 points and went on a scoring frenzy with just a few minutes left in the game.

    In the end, the Panthers won by three points, 56-53, Head Coach Carroll Yager said.

  • Chili supper fund-raiser kicks...

    The public is invited to the annual chili supper and silent auction from 4-6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 14, in the Carroll County High School cafeteria.

    The meal is $5 and includes a bowl of chili, a sandwich, a homemade dessert and a beverage. All proceeds from the chili supper will benefit the Panther basketball program.

    Following supper, the Lady Panthers will hit the court at 6 p.m. against the Williamstown Lady Demons for the first game of a CCHS homecoming double-header.

  • Edwards angling for a win in...

    Winning new bass boats and big cash prizes are the two top things competition anglers dream of – and Gary Edwards of Milton, Ky is fishing his way toward a huge payout.

    Edwards will compete in the  May 28-30 Bass Fishing League-Walmart All-American Tournament in Moline, Ill. A first-place win there would include a $100,000 prize and move him into the Walmart FLW Outdoors Forrest Wood Cup tournament on Lake Murray in Columbia, S.C. The Aug. 14 tournament has a first-place payout of $1 million.

  • Raiders drop the ball, fall to...

    Despite high expectations, the Trimble County Raider boys basketball team fell to Henry County in the first round of the 8th Region All A tournament Jan. 21.

    As an early season favorite to win the coveted title, the Raiders hit the hardwood with high hopes, but the team’s low energy seemed to contribute to the 57-62 loss to the Wildcats.

    Guard Aaron Law, one of five seniors on the team, put 7 points on the board during the first period, but it wasn’t enough as the Raiders trailed 13-16 at the buzzer.

  • Panthers lose in Class A first...

    The Panthers had all the excitement, noise, crowds, cheerleaders and bands that go with high-school tournament basketball last Wednesday, Jan. 21.

    Everything except a win.

    The Carroll County Panthers hosted the All Class A boys tournament last week, but fell to the Wildcats of Gallatin County in the first round, 42-33.

    It was especially disappointing, because the Lady Panthers had also lost to Gallatin County in the final round of the All Class A just a week before.

  • Third time isn’t a...

    After falling to border rivals Carroll County in their last two match-ups, the Trimble County Lady Raiders were ready for battle last Thursday night.

    However, the Lady Panthers proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the triple-header that ended with the hometown varsity girls falling 43-53, to put the team at 1-14 for the season.

    From the tip off, the Trimble girls showed an abundance of energy at both ends of the floor. The first quarter was back and forth as the Lady Raiders had the Panthers by the tail to keep the score close at 11-12.

  • Lady Panthers scratch past Henry...

    The Lady Panthers pulled off a win in a make-up game last week against the Lady Cats of Henry County on a night when shots wouldn’t fall and rebounding was lackluster.

     

    The final score was 48-39 in the Lady Panthers’ favor, but the game played out much more closely.

    Then, in the final period, the Lady Panthers only managed 14 points from the charity stripe.

  • Season ends for CCMS boys

    The seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball teams at Carroll County Middle School hosted their last game of the season, with the  Walton-Verona Bearcats as guests Wednesday night, Jan. 14.

    Between games, the team members and their parents were honored.

    The seventh grade team struggled in the first half of the game but got their feet under them near the end as they began to make some shots.

    At the end of the first quarter, the Panthers were down 2-14. They managed to make four field goals in the second quarter, bringing the score to 10-23.
