  • District Tourneys set next week...

    The Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s 29th District Basketball Tournament gets underway Tuesday, Feb. 25, and continues Wednesday, Feb. 26. Championship games will be played on Friday, Feb. 28. All games will be played at North Oldham High School, located at 1815 South Highway 1793 in Goshen.

    The Trimble County Raiders will face South Oldham in Tuesday night’s boys’ contest, which will be played at about 7:30 p.m., following the girls’ 6 p.m. match-up between Oldham County and North Oldham.

    The Trimble County Raiders bounced back from their heart-breaking 56-55 loss to Carroll County in the boys’ 8th Region All A Classic to defeat Frankfort’s Western Hills High School in a dramatic, 49-44 road win Thursday.
    Trimble trailed the Wolverines by a 11-6 score after the first eight minutes of play and matched their hosts point for point in the second period to continue to trail by five, 23-18, at halftime.

    Trimble County’s exciting run in the Touchstone Energy All A Classic tournament came to a disappointing end with a 65-48 second round loss to Newport Central Catholic on Friday.

    Those were the first words off the lips of many an excited fan of the Trimble County Lady Raiders following the “never-say-die” team’s thrilling come-from-behind double overtime victory over Murray last Wednesday in the opening round of the Touchstone Energy All A Classic Tournament at Frankfort’s spacious Convention Center.

    The Carroll County Panthers took care of business Friday night, defeating rival Trimble County, 42-0. The Panthers scored all 42 points in the first half, so a running clock shortened the second half, making it even harder for the Raiders to mount a comeback.
    The Panthers’ entire offense was their ground game, rushing 41 times for 384 yards while attempting zero passes. In comparison, the Raiders rushed 22 times for 20 yards and threw the ball once for three yards.

  • Lady Raiders drop District opener

    Another successful high school volleyball season came to an abrupt end Tuesday, Oct. 22 as the Trimble County Lady Raiders fell before a talented North Oldham team 3-0 in the opening round of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s 29th District Tournament. Game scores were 25-14, 25-20 and 25-14.
