Before Thursday night, William Byron had three wins this season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series: Kansas, Texas and Iowa. He was able to add Kentucky to that list Thursday night and clinch a spot in the truck series’ chase for the championship.
Byron started the race in third and led for 70 of the 150 laps in the Buckle Up in Your Truck 225. As the race waned into the closing laps, he had to fend off fierce competition from John Hunter Nemecheck and Daniel Hemric.
