    Top seed North Oldham defeated Trimble 3-0 in the opening game of the 29th District Volleyball Tournament, held last week in Bedford. Match scores were 25-17, 25-5, 25-13.
    Trimble led 8-5 in the first match but North Oldham reeled off 6 straight points to take a 11-8 advantage and never looked back.

    Border rivals Carroll and Trimble County battled for a final playoff berth in their annual football matchup Friday and the contest wasn’t decided until the final seconds as the Panthers clawed their way to a 19-12 victory, scoring the winning touchdown with only 24 seconds remaining in regulation play.

    It was touch and go through the third match before the Trimble County Lady Raiders closed the door on a determined visiting Switzerland County Lady Pacers team Tuesday in Trimble’s final regular season home volleyball game of 2016.
    The Lady Raiders were strong in the first match, taking measure of the Swiss girls by a 25-14 score. But Trimble lost some of its edge in the second match as the Lady Pacers came back to win 17-25.

    The Carroll County and Trimble County volleyball border war was a little more special this year the match was Carroll County’s Volley for the Cure games.
    Trimble won the match 2-0 (25-8, 25-19) as they defeated the Lady Panthers for the third time this season.
    Each Carroll County player recognized a cancer survivor with a pink carnation prior to the match and a list of those who had lost their battle with cancer was also read.

    Eighth Region powerhouse Walton-Verona invaded the Trimble County gymnasium last week and claimed a 2-0 win over the Lady Raiders (13-25, 12-25).

  • Runnin’ Raiders in two meets

    Trimble County’s Runnin’ Raiders were in action twice last week. Varsity runners competed in the North Central Kentucky Conference Meet at General Butler State Resort Park in Carrollton on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Trimble’s girls fielded enough runners for a team score and finished fourth overall in the meet. Trimble’s girls placed as follows: Eliza Weston, 5th place, 22:09.54; Rachael Liter, 10th, 22:58.87; Savannah Dunlap, 29th, 26:45.31; Tessa Chilton, 31st, 26:58.12; and Hannah Congleton, 50th, 38:44.84.
