  • TCMS volleyball ladies open season

    The Trimble County Middle School Lady Raiders volleyball teams had a very successful season-opening outing at Owen County, according to Coach Vanita Fogle.
    The sixth grade ladies won their match by a 2-1 score. Game scores were 8-15, 15-7 and 15-9.
    In seventh grade action, Trimble also claimed the match by a 2-1 score. Game scores were: 13-21, 21-15 and 15-8 for the match.
    The eighth graders fell 0-2 in their match, game scores being 8-25 and 12-25.

  • Dunaway will transfer

    Michael Dunaway, a standout athlete in both basketball and baseball, has announced he will not return to Trimble County High School for his senior year. Instead, the 6 feet 4 inch center will enroll at Owen County High School for his final year of high school studies and hopes to contribute to the Rebels’ basketball and baseball programs.

    The 2015-16 Trimble County Raiders boys’ basketball team members and their parents were introduced to the new varsity coach last Thursday in an informal meeting at the Bedford Elementary School.

    When I accepted the Trimble County High/Middle School track & field coaching position I had one assistant coach not returning. Therefore, I wanted to hire the best person for the team—someone who had a good connection with the athletes, a positive role model, excellent motivator, kind, caring, but could push them to do their best and always looking for a multitude of ways to improve their performance. Basically a super star coach!

    Trimble County High School’s standout catcher, Kayla Baker, has been named to the Eighth Region All Region Softball Team in high school softball. Baker, a 2015 TCHS graduate, will play softball at the collegiate level next year for the Otterbein University Cardinals in Westerville, Ohio.

    The Trimble County Lady Raiders diamond girls saw their successful softball season come to a screeching halt in the opening round of the 29th District Tournament last week at North Oldham.
    Trimble bowed out of the tournament on the short end of an 8-1 score in a game won by the Oldham County Lady Colonels.

    Six members of the Trimble County High School track & field team have qualified to compete in this weekend’s Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Meet to be held at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
    “I am extremely proud of their performance,” Trimble coach Teena Drake said of the state contenders.
