    The Trimble County Raiders bounced back from their heart-breaking 56-55 loss to Carroll County in the boys’ 8th Region All A Classic to defeat Frankfort’s Western Hills High School in a dramatic, 49-44 road win Thursday.
    Trimble trailed the Wolverines by a 11-6 score after the first eight minutes of play and matched their hosts point for point in the second period to continue to trail by five, 23-18, at halftime.

    Trimble County’s exciting run in the Touchstone Energy All A Classic tournament came to a disappointing end with a 65-48 second round loss to Newport Central Catholic on Friday.

    “That was the most exciting game I’ve seen in years!”

    Those were the first words off the lips of many an excited fan of the Trimble County Lady Raiders following the “never-say-die” team’s thrilling come-from-behind double overtime victory over Murray last Wednesday in the opening round of the Touchstone Energy All A Classic Tournament at Frankfort’s spacious Convention Center.

  • Carroll tops Raiders

    The Carroll County Panthers took care of business Friday night, defeating rival Trimble County, 42-0. The Panthers scored all 42 points in the first half, so a running clock shortened the second half, making it even harder for the Raiders to mount a comeback.
    The Panthers’ entire offense was their ground game, rushing 41 times for 384 yards while attempting zero passes. In comparison, the Raiders rushed 22 times for 20 yards and threw the ball once for three yards.

  • Lady Raiders drop District opener

    Another successful high school volleyball season came to an abrupt end Tuesday, Oct. 22 as the Trimble County Lady Raiders fell before a talented North Oldham team 3-0 in the opening round of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s 29th District Tournament. Game scores were 25-14, 25-20 and 25-14.

  • Raiders stop Beth Haven, Williamstown to go 13-6

    The Trimble County Raiders scored a triumvirate of wins last week. Following Monday’s triumph over Walden (see last week’s Trimble Banner), the Raiders made quick work of Williamstown on Thursday and Beth Haven on Saturday. Saturday’s 58-40 win over Beth haven capped a week of Homecoming activities for the team.

  • Sixth graders pick up two wins

    Trimble County’s 6th grade boys team traveled to Madison on Sunday to take on the Southwestern Rebels. Southwestern scored first and held a 2-0 lead. That was the last lead the Rebels had all day.

  • Slow start dooms Lady Raiders at South Oldham

    South Oldham’s Lady Dragons gave the visiting Trimble County’s Lady Raiders a shellacking in the first quarter of Monday night’s game at Crestwood and rode to victory on the strength of that one quarter alone.

    Using tenacious defensive pressure to create steals and force rushed shots, South Oldham dismantled their guests quickly to race out to a 21-3 advantage after eight minutes of play. The Lady Dragons continued their scoring onslaught in the second quarter to increase the margin to 21 at halftime, leading 35-14.
