  • FALL SPORTS PREVIEW: CROSS COUNTRY

Trimble County High School’s cross country team opened the 2011 season on Saturday in the St. X Tiger Run at the Louisville Champions Park.

“The meet went well,” Assistant Coach Mario Caudillo said yesterday. “I liked what I saw from the varsity boys, I believe they are starting with a very good base. As for the girls, considering we have some new members and the team is young, we will need to bear down and we have some work to do to obtain the goals that I know that they are capable of accomplishing.”

  • Kasi Fogle to play Division I tennis at IU/PU in Ft. Wayne

Dreams do come true! For 2011 Trimble County High School graduate Kasi Fogle that dream was to play for a NCAA Division I-level college tennis team. With TCHS Athletic Director Frank Ragland, Superintendant Marcia Dunaway, Principal Sterling Sampson and her mother Vanita Fogle, Trimble’s tennis coach, looking on, Kasi signed a letter of intent to play for Indiana/Purdue at Fort Wayne in May.

They came, they saw, they conquered on the football field of Clinton County High School as the Trimble County Raiders achieved their first win of the season in an agonizingly neck-and-neck game Friday night, ending with a score of 14-13.

  • Young Raiders have strong start in loss

“How can I not be upbeat about the future?”

Trimble County High School’s first-year football head coach William Blair suppressed his disappointment over his team’s season-opening loss by focusing on the positive aspects of the game.

Visiting Berea got on the scoreboard first, taking a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter en route to a 19-8 win over Trimble County Friday. Berea scored again with 3:26 to go in the first half but the kick for the extra point failed and Trimble trailed 13-0.

  • Ladies overcome slow start to top Gallatin

The Trimble County Lady Raiders got a wakeup call in their Tuesday matchup with Gallatin County last week. Trimble had rolled over Walton-Verona the previous week and handily dispatched Carroll County on the previous evening but both the volleyball ball and the net appeared foreign to Trimble in the early going during their home match with Gallatin.

  • FALL SPORTS PREVIEW: VOLLEYBALL

The Trimble County Lady Raiders will open the 2011 volleyball season in the friendly confines of the TCHS gymnasium tomorrow night. Trimble entertains Walton-Verona, one of the toughest opponents on the schedule, according to Head Coach Ruth Staples.

“Unfortunately, we’re in a district with Oldham County,” Staples said. “As opponents they’re class 5A and 6A schools and we’re a class single A school. Other than that probably our next toughest opponent is Walton-Verona.”
