  • Raiders have exhausting week at NAS

The Trimble County Raiders came within two baskets of winning three games in last week’s North American Stainless Classic in Carrollton. The Raiders played the equivalent of 13-1/2 quarters in three contests but fell to defeat in two games by two points in an exhaustive, but determined, effort.

Trimble faced Switzerland County in their opening tournament matchup on Wednesday. The Raiders and Pacers battled to a deadlock after four quarters of play. Switzerland County emerged the victor after the extra three minutes of overtime play, 55-53.

  • Trimble tunes up for holiday trip with win over Bellevue

Trimble County Lady Raiders coach Kerrie Stewart didn’t know what to expect when her team hosted Bellevue Thursday. Her team had battled hard in their road trip to Bellevue a year ago. The Lady Tigers, however, lost most of last year’s team to graduation and were forced to field a varsity starting lineup that included three eighth graders. The end result was a 63-31 breeze for the Lady Raiders.

  • Rebels riddle Raiders, 43-20

A game plan of deliberate slowed-down offense was well executed in the early stages of Trimble County’s outing with regional power Owen County on Dec. 6, but Trimble’s inability to generate points on the scoreboard proved to be the Raiders’ downfall. Owen eventually pulled away in the second half to score a 43-20 win.

  • Lady Raiders’ 4th quarter overwhelms Williamstown

A strong second half capped by a 31-point fourth quarter enabled the Trimble County Lady Raiders to throttle the visiting Williamstown Lady Demons by a score of 74-46 on Friday.

Williamstown led briefly, 4-2, in the early moments of the game. Trimble’s tenacious defense enabled eight steals from Williamstown’s offensive effort in the first half alone.

  • Raiders eclipse Shawe’s Hilltoppers in see-saw battle

Clutch free throw shooting down the stretch gave Trimble County a 50-44 win over Shawe’s Hilltoppers in a game which was much tighter than the final score would indicate.

“It was a great game back and forth,” Trimble Coach John Leep III said following the exciting game. “Both teams are really similar—heavily guard oriented. It was a fun game to coach in. The players really enjoyed getting to play against a border rival.”

  • Lady Raiders celebrate ‘big win’ over Shelby County

Trimble County’s Lady Raiders jumped out to an early 10-4 lead early in Monday’s game with Shelby County and never looked back on their way to a 52-44 defeat of the Lady Rockets in what Trimble Coach Kerrie Stewart called “a big win for us.”

While holding a 35-24 advantage late in the third quarter the Lady Raiders weathered a storm over the next six minutes of play at Shelby pulled within one, at 42-41, with 3:54 remaining in the game.
