    The fall sports season is right around the corner. As parents and high school students look ahead to the 2012-13 school year, student athletes will need a sports physical to participate in Kentucky High School Athletic Association-sanctioned sports. The same is true for high school students in Indiana.

    The King’s Daughters’ Hospital is again asking parents to schedule a sports physical with their personal physician. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all athletes receive a yearly checkup from their personal physician.

  • Madie Cook is girls’ state tennis singles’ champion

    LEXINGTON – Notre Dame senior Madie Cook won the state tennis championship in girls’ singles on Saturday (May 19), and the Pandas just missed out on two more state titles.

    The team championship between Notre Dame and Lone Oak came down to the last of the five matches played during the late afternoon at the Boone Tennis Center.

  • Lady Raiders conclude regular season with losses

    The Trimble County Lady Raiders closed out the 2012 regular season last week with losses to Martha Layne Collins High School and Spencer County.

    Collins blanked Trimble, 3-0, in the Lady Raiders’ final home appearance at the home field at Trimble County Middle School on Wednesday.

    The Lady Raiders, visiting Spencer County on Thursday, were on the short end of a 3-1 score.

  • Raiders fall to So. Oldham in 29th District Tournament

    The Trimble County Raiders baseball team closed out their 2012 season on Monday, falling to South Oldham, 10-0, in the opening game of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s 29th District Baseball Tournament at Crestwood.

    The Raiders closed out regular season play last week with a hectic schedule of games on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Trimble traveled to Williamstown on Wednesday and bedeviled the Demons in an 11-1 rout. On the following night Trimble blanked Eminence behind a no-hit pitching effort by senior Dylan Staples.

    Pairings for the 29th District Tournaments for softball and baseball have been announced by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.

  • Raiders drop heartbreaker to Wildcats in NCKC championship

    The Trimble County Raiders were an inning away from victory in the title game of the North Central Kentucky Conference Tournament on Saturday. But, as a clichéd quote from New York Yankee Hall of Famer Yogi Berra reminds us, “It ain’t over ‘til it’s over!”

    Trimble, leading 5-1 in the sixth inning over the visiting Henry County Wildcats, who took advantage of erratic pitching to edge back into the game and closed the inning fronting 7-5 en route to a 8-5 win for the tournament championship.
