  • Softball: Trimble returns 7 starters

    Former Trimble County High School athlete and perennial assistant coach Tanya Black has taken the helm of the TCHS Lady Raiders softball program this year. Longtime coach Walter McHargue stepped down after a 2011 season that saw the Lady Raiders win only four of 22 games.

  • Runnin’ Raiders at Shelby Co.

    The Trimble County High school track team competed in the Shelby County All Comers Meet at Shelbyville last week. Trimble’s girls brought home a seventh place finish. The boys finished 17th.

    Trimble’s female athletes and their events included:
    100 meter dash—freshman Courtney Matthews, 66th, 15.75; senior Kayla Barnes, 76th, 16.04; freshman Ashby Drake, 78th, 16.20; and freshman Hannah Whitaker, 87th, 16.77.
    200 meter dash—Courtney Matthews, 51st, 34.82; Hannah Whitaker, 53rd, 35.05.

  • Raider rally falls short, 5-4

    Down five runs heading into the sixth inning, the Raiders rallied, but fell just short, 5-4, to rival Carroll County on the road Thursday, March 22.

    “I’m really happy about that because we’ve had trouble with (closing out games) in the past,” Carroll first year head coach Josh Mefford said. “We’ve had those bad innings where we’ve kicked the ball around, but this time they hit the ball … We kept our heads in it, and we made the plays we were supposed to make.”

    The Trimble County Lady Raiders notched their first win of the season in a down-to-the-wire battle against border rival Carroll County on the road Wednesday, 3-2.

    First-year head coach Tanya Black was overflowing with excitement following the game. “Our first two games we hit the ball pretty decent, but just couldn’t get over that hump and this time we fought hard and did well, very proud of them,” she said.

  • TCHS track teams compete at Carrollton

    The Trimble County High school track team competed in the Carroll County All Comers Meet at Carroll County High School last week.

    Trimble’s girls brought home a second place finish among nine teams competing. The boys finished seventh among eight teams.

    Trimble’s female athletes and their events included:

    100 meter dash—freshman Ashby Drake, 20th, 16.36; sophomore Savannah Moore, 21st, 16.80.

  • TCHS girls’ tennis confident, young

    The Trimble County High School girls’ tennis team will try to build on the stellar example of Kasi Fogle, last year’s lone graduate from the team, as they work to improve on the 4-7 record compiled by the 2011 Lady Raiders.

    Fogle was the 2011 North Central Kentucky Conference singles winner with a 16-2 season record as Trimble’s top singles player. Fogle had a loss at the regional and at the state tournament.
