  • Raiders celebrate Senior Night with impressive win

    Trimble’s youthful Raiders came through for the team’s two seniors Monday, overpowering Thomas Nelson, 69-42, in the Raiders’ final home appearance of the 2016-17 season.
    “It was a good night for Senior Night. Donovan [Liter] and Adam [Young]both played well,” Trimble coach Stacey May said.

    The Trimble County Lady Raiders wrapped up the North Central Kentucky Conference championship Friday in convincing fashion by overpowering visiting Owen County by a 55-26 score.

    The Trimble County Raiders battled strong against Williamstown Thursday, overcoming a seven-point halftime deficit to take a seven-point lead with 1:38 remaining to play in the third quarter. Unfortunately for Trimble, the wheels came off the Raider scoring machine in the final eight minutes of play and the visiting Demons left Bedford with a 67-52 win.

    It is understandable if a casual fan may have dreaded the rematch between Trimble County’s boys’ varsity and visiting Walton-Verona Saturday. WV had worked the Raiders over pretty thoroughly when the two teams met in the opening round of the Eighth Region All A tournament last month. Pretty probably shouldn’t be used while mentioning that game as Trimble wound up on the short end of a 74-27 score.

  • Lady Raiders claim three wins in hectic schedule

    Playing with perhaps a slight letdown following their recent Final Four appearance in the All A Classic, the Trimble County Lady Raiders nevertheless reeled off three victories in the past week, including a 47-26 drubbing of District 29 foe North Oldham on Friday, a 65-28 triumph over Henry County on Saturday and a 52-42 defeat of Gallatin County Monday night.

  • Raiders power past Brown

    Trimble County’s young Raider varsity picked up their second win of the season on Wednesday, Jan. 25, topping Brown in a thriller at home, 59-52.
    The Raiders were 19 of 46 from the field for 41 percent and sank 15 of 22 free throw attempts for 68 percent.
    Troy Grieshaber led the Raider offensive attack with 18 points. Evan Stevens had 12 points, Shane Mills 11, Reece Webster 9, Adam Young 6 and Logan Clifford 3.
    Mills was Trimble’s top rebounder with 9 caroms. Clifford and Stevens each pulled down 5 boards and Grieshaber had 4.

    Trimble’s lady hoopsters squared off against a much younger and smaller team Friday after advancing to the quarterfinal round of the All A Classic. West Carter’s roster included three sophomores, four freshmen, six eighth graders and one seventh grader, with nobody in the lineup stretching a measuring tape past 5’7”.

    The Trimble County Lady Raiders opened play in the All A Classic Wednesday morning with a 35-23 defeat of Presentation Academy out of Louisville. The game marked the fourth appearance in the prestigious tournament for small schools for a Trimble County girls’ basketball team.
    The Lady Raiders ran out to a quick 12-5 advantage in the first eight minutes of play behind sharpshooting sophomore Bailey Duke who scored 13 of her game-high 15 points in the first half, including nine points from beyond the three-point arc.
