  • TC Youth Softball League readying for 2012 season
    The Trimble County Youth Softball League welcomes new director Dee Bromwell. Dee has been involved with the softball league for the past four years as a coach, board member for two years and an officer in the past. The league also recently welcomed new board members: Dan and Belinda Burns, Jason and Jodi Ginn, Charlie Ponder and Benny Cissell. If anyone has questions or concerns about the league they are encouraged to contact any of the board members.

  • Wrestling academy students had busy winter schedule
    Wrestlers from Punishment Wrestling Academy located in Milton, have been busy this winter in wrestling tournaments around the local area. On Feb. 5, 2012, they competed in a wrestling tournament at Jeffersonville High School in Jeffersonville, Ind.
  • Trimble’s elementary teams enjoy success in league play
    Trimble County’s 5th grade boys have won their league tournament for the second year in a row. In the semifinal game the Raiders took on Switzerland County, a team that had taken Trimble into overtime only two weeks prior. Trimble adjusted their defense by putting David Duncan on the Pacers’ main scoring threat, which helped shut him down and kept the Raider big men out of foul trouble. Trimble led 30-13 at the half en route to an easy 41-24 final.
  • Little League signups continue
    To ensure all children sign up that want to play, the Trimble County Little League will continue accepting applications through Saturday, Feb. 25. Parents may pick up applications at your child’s school, both Stop N’ Go stations and the Trimble County Public Library or print it off the league website at www.trimblecountysports.com. The league will have a booth during the youth league basketball games at Bedford Elementary Saturday.

  • Fifth grade Raiders top Pope John in league tournament opener
    The Raiders 5th grade boys beat Pope John Saturday in the first round of the league tournament 23-13. David Duncan led the team with 12 points, Dane Lacefield 4, Logan Clifford, Evan Stevens, Duncan Ralston had 2 points each and Shane Mills had 1. Clifford led the team with 9 rebounds and Grant Weaver had 5.

  • Elementary Raider teams complete undefeated season
    Trimble’s fifth grade basketball team took on Switzerland County for a shot at going undefeated in the Van Wye league in Madison, IN. The Raiders were very lackadaisical at the game, seemed to have no energy and didn’t play like themselves in the game. They pressed in the first half, which helped account for 21 steals for the game but the Raiders also amassed 11 fouls for the half. Trimble went into halftime down 12-10.
  • Tryouts for Little League baseball Feb. 11
    By Craig Lacefield Special to The Trimble Banner Tryouts for Trimble County Little League Baseball are right around the corner. The league will hold tryouts on Feb. 11 at the Morgan Community Center. The league will make several changes this year. The first change you see is the name, we will be affiliating with Little League this year. This adds several benefits, from insurance, training of umpires, a structured All Star playoff, and having inter-league games with other Little Leagues.
