  • Youth Football League underway
    By TODD POLLOCK Special to The Trimble Banner The Henry and Trimble County Youth Tackle Football League kicked off their season on Saturday, August 18, with the annual Jamboree at the Trimble County Park in Bedford. Over 400 people came to see the young tackle football players make their final preparations for the regular season. The games are played at the Henry County Recreation Center and the Trimble County Park on Saturdays through the beginning of November.
  • Carroll to host basketball invitational
    Carroll County High School boys basketball and parent group will host a co-ed “Street Ball Show Down 3 On 3 Double Elimination Basketball Tournament.” There will be two tournament events, one for up middle school-age athletes and adults and another for younger athletes. The first event will be Saturday, Aug. 25, with first round of game starting at 9 a.m. There will be four divisions: Division 1 – 7th and 8th grade; Division 2 – 9th grade to 18 years of age; Division 3 - 19 years of age to 35; and Division 4 - 36 years old and up.

    By KEVIN BRADLEY The Trimble Banner Chuck’s Chix ended their summer tournament schedule with a second place finish in the NSA’s Back to School Bash played in Shelbyville this past weekend.

  • Mustangs run wild in Trimble tourney
    The Henry County Mustangs played in the Trimble County tournament on the weekend of July 28th. The Mustangs won all four games they played, scoring 54 runs and hitting 6 home runs. The leading hitter was Jaydon Berry who hit .667, going 10-15 with 3 home runs and 13 RBI’s. Berry also won 2 games pitching, striking out 20 batters in 10 innings. Trimble County’s own Adam Young was an iron man, catching all four games. Bookie Ruff, Bobby Crisp and Evan McMahon all batted over .600 with a home run each.

  • Punishment Wrestling has successful season
    By Suzy Sachleben-Turner Punishment Youth Wrestling Academy, located in Milton, Kentucky had an extremely successful 2011-2012 Wrestling season. The Academy is a training facility for area youth ages 4 and up who wish to learn the sport of competitive wrestling. PWA provides instruction on three types of Wrestling, Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco-Roman. The Academy welcomes wrestlers from both Kentucky and Indiana, and provides basic to advanced technique instruction.

    By KEVIN BRADLEY Special to The Trimble Banner Chuck’s Chix is an area girls’ fastpitch softball organization based in Carrollton.  The girls come from Carroll, Owen, Gallatin, Trimble and Henry counties and represent six school systems.

  • TC Youth Softball League readying for 2012 season
    The Trimble County Youth Softball League welcomes new director Dee Bromwell. Dee has been involved with the softball league for the past four years as a coach, board member for two years and an officer in the past. The league also recently welcomed new board members: Dan and Belinda Burns, Jason and Jodi Ginn, Charlie Ponder and Benny Cissell. If anyone has questions or concerns about the league they are encouraged to contact any of the board members.
