    Trimble County’s 1982-83 budget is the smallest one in the state according to recently released figures filed with the Kentucky State Finance Department. The budget, passed in May of 1982 and adopted June 25, 1982, is $507,269.00. The highest is Fayette County at $75,728,850.00.

    HUD project is going up on Cutshaw Lane. The 40 apartments should be ready for occupancy in March or April of next year. Rental applications probably will be taken in February. The units will consist of one, two and three bedrooms.

    30 Years Ago (July 08, 1982)
    Trimble County Fiscal Court met Saturday morning, July 3, with all magistrates and judge-executive attending in a 3-hour session of setting salaries of the county officials.

    Bernice Liter is the new county treasurer and is to retain the $100,000 bond through Rand Insurance Agency by which Wilma Olivigni, former treasurer, was bound.

    The county 4-H Fair will be July 8-11. There are booths available for clubs and organizations. Also space for yard sales, flea markets and other crafts to show and sell.

    Jerry L. Powell declined in a letter to Judge-Executive Clyde Greenwood to accept the appointment of Trimble County Treasurer. The nomination came as a result of the firing of Wilma Olivigni, who had been treasurer for the past 12 years.

    Some roads in and some out of the Rural Secondary System. Al Lemieux, Hwy General Manager for District 5, and Judge-Executive Greenwood worked out an agreement to include Sulphur Road into the Rural Secondary System.

    30 Years Ago (June 17, 1982)
    Clyde “Jack” Greenwood, who has been associated with the Trimble Banner Democrat for 32 years, announced his retirement, effective July 1. Replacing Greenwood as editor will be June Lehue Rand, a native of Trimble County. Becky Jackson will continue as associate editor with responsibility for composition and as assistant in news coverage.

    Erin Wingham received all A’s for the entire year in Mrs. Lounita Hereford’s second grade.

    June 3, 1982
    A torrential rainfall of more than four inches in a gushing downpour in some area of the county played havoc with bridges and roads, with creek bottom crops and other property Saturday night. Severe thunderstorms moved around the area during the weekend and through Monday night, triggering tornado warnings.

    George Adkins, secretary or the Cabinet in Frankfort reminisced humorously about his school days to 74 graduates Friday night. Valedictorian Ora Leland Scott III and  Salutatorian Rhonda Sue Bares addressed the Commencement audience before Larry Moore, school principal presented each of them with their diploma.
