Rachel N. Powell, 93

Rachel N. Powell 93, of Bedford, died on May 11, 2013 at The Richwood in LaGrange. She was born on May 1, 1920 to the late James Franklin and Oshia Bell Simpson Newby in Bedford.

She is survived by her children; Larry Powell of Bedford, Dallas Powell of Milan, Ind., Nicholas Powell of Pendleton, and Mark Powell of Campbellsburg; one sister Martha Hawkins of Indiana, many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Gov. Beshear expands health coverage in Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Calling it “the single-most important decision in our lifetime for improving the health of Kentuckians,” Gov. Steve Beshear on Thursday announced the inclusion of 308,000 more Kentuckians in the federal Medicaid health insurance program. The expansion, together with the creation of the Health Benefit Exchange, will ensure that every Kentuckian will have access to affordable health insurance.
