Trimble track has outstanding run at regional

Trimble County High School’s girls’ track team took second overall in Saturday’s Region 5A held in Danville. Trimble’s ladies finished a scant two points behind regional champ Lexington Christian. As a result 10 Trimble girls will compete at state this weekend.

Trimble’s boys finished eighth overall in the regional competition. Five Trimble boys will advance to the state meet this weekend. The Class A state meet will be held Saturday at the University of Louisville.

Local judges participated in joint judicial education program

FRANKFORT, Ky., – At the invitation of the chief justice, Kentucky judges recently came together for a joint two-day college to focus on a variety of topics of interest to trial court and appellate judges.
The Administrative Office of the Courts hosted a Spring Judicial College for Supreme Court justices and Court of Appeals, Circuit Court and District Court judges April 23-24 in Lexington.

Milton Commission discusses future Swap Meet changes

The bi-annual Swap Meet at the Milton City Park received considerable attention as the Milton City Commission met for its regularly scheduled meeting last Thursday, May 9, 2013 in the Milton Municipal Building. The Swap Meet was held two days later during the weekend of May 11-12.

Ordinances exist to protect citizens

I’m writing this letter to address the Bedford Nuisance Ordinance that seems to have caused a lot of talk in the news lately.
I no longer live in Bedford but still have family and friends that do. Bedford is a beautiful town. Nice people and just laid back. My concern is if the Bedford City Commission did not have ordinances in place to protect its citizens then Bedford would not be as beautiful as it is.

Kentucky has gotten a lot of attention over the years when it comes to finding innovative ways to govern.  Our education reforms of the 1990s were hailed as national models, for example, and we are the only state to permanently dedicate half of our annual tobacco settlement payments to agriculture, a move that has played a key role in the industry’s record sales in recent years.

May 12, 1983 (30 Years Ago)

J.W. Sachleben Bedford, has been hired as superintendent of Trimble County Schools. Sachleben was hired during a special meeting of the Trimble County Board of Education last Wednesday. Sachleben has spent 20 years in education, 19 of those in Trimble County. He has been principal at Milton Elementary School for the past 12 years.

TCHS drama group to present dinner theatrical production

It’s a “Rehearsal for Murder” this week at the Trimble County High School gymnasium. The school’s theatrical production under the leadership of the Carrie Law is set for production this Thursday, Friday and Saturday and will offer a dinner option.

The plot finds Broadway producer Alex Dennison distraught over his fiancé and leading lady Monica Welles’ apparent suicide. Believing she was actually murdered he gathers the cast and crew of his last play to find out what actually happened the night of Monica’s death.
