  • Ely family expresses appreciation for community’s kindness

    Editor:

On behalf of the Ely family, I would like to send out a very special thank you to the Milton and Bedford Communities.

On the 7th of July, my brother Thomas Wayne Ely passed away at the very young age of 33. Tommy had no insurance and our family could not afford the cost of his final expenses. With the help of the community and several close friends, we were able to raise the $2,300 to help cover the costs.

  • Senior citizens express appreciation for success of Senior Carnival

    Editor:

The Senior Carnival was a great success Friday, July 6. It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of local businesses and people.

  • Milton resident expresses appreciation for help after injury

    Editor:

On June 19, 2012, I was severely injured in an accident. I fell approximately 25 feet from a barn roof when the boards I was standing on gave way. I was lucky in the fact that a friend was there to make the call for help and responded to the accident like a professional. The Trimble County EMS and the Air Methods crew responded quickly and did an outstanding job in getting me to the hospital for proper medical care.

  • Nominations sought for Citizen of the Year

I am writing to request nominations for the Bedford Rotary Club Citizen of the year award.

  • Shelby Energy board of director’s election

    Editor:

On Friday, June 22, 2012, Shelby Energy had their first contested election for a Board of Directors’ election in their 75 year history.  I was not successful in my attempt to be elected to the District III (Carroll and Trimble County) seat.

  • Bedford fire chief alarmed over fiscal court budget cuts

    Editor:

As you are reading this it has been over four weeks since Trimble County Fiscal Court approved the first reading of a “tighter” budget for 2012-13. It seems quite convenient that Judge Stevens announces his resignation two weeks later. His resignation made the paper, why didn’t the budget reading?

  • Successor suggested

    Editor:

It appears Mr. Stevens is going on to bigger and better things and we the people of Trimble County are in need of new leadership. With no disrespect to the other members of the fiscal court, I, for one, would think that the person to replace Mr. Stevens would be able to have a vision to enhance the future of our county. I always thought that my very best friend, Dicky Webster, that has passed on was the best magistrate this county ever had until now.

  • Boosters say thanks

    Editor:

The Trimble County Middle School and High School Band Program and the Trimble County Bank Boosters would like to thank all the wonderful businesses and individuals who so kindly supported our annual Spaghetti Supper fundraiser on May 24 through their extreme generosity of prizes for our raffle. The fundraiser was a huge success and we appreciate the support for our young musicians from our great community! A big thank you also to everyone who bought a raffle ticket or came and purchased a Spaghetti Dinner. We hope to see you again next year!
