  • Lady Raiders Softball Coach appreciates support at Apple Festival

    Editor:

I would personally like to thank the community for all their support to our program during the Trimble County Apple Festival. I also know there were others that came from out of town just to get one of our apple dumplings, so thank you all as well.

I also want to apologize to all of you who didn’t get one. We have run out the past two years on Sunday afternoon.

But, thanks to everyone’s support, we raised some much-needed money for our travel expenses for the upcoming season.

  • Milton utility addresses concerns of letter in Aug. 29 Banner

    Editor:

This letter is in response to the letter submitted to The Trimble Banner from Candice Humphrey.
Letters were mailed in March 2012 to all Milton Water and Sewer customers explaining the new rates.

Ms. Humphrey called our $50 reconnect fee outrageous. I suggest Ms. Humphrey contact Trimble County Water and Shelby Energy to get their reconnect fees. If so, she will find our reconnect fee is the lowest of the three.

I’m writing this letter about the Milton Water Company’s outrageous reconnection fee of $50.

  • Appreciation given for Bedford Bash sponsors

    To the editor and community:

There was a huge turnout Friday night, Aug. 17 for the 23rd annual Bedford Bash and 6th annual Car show.

Thank you Bedford Loan & Deposit employees for providing your time and energy to this project.

Congratulations to Trimble County Health Department on winning the Traveling Trophy for best window display.

  • A wonderful tribute

    Editor:

Friday, August 17th was a special day in Bedford. I was so moved by our American Flag draped across Hwy 42 and all the people waiting to show their respect for Mark. Thanks so much to the EMTs, Fire Departments, and Law Enforcements for making this possible.

Quoting Jon Dunlap in time of crisis our community really comes together. Our EMTs and Fire Departments are not only a service but a family.

The definition of a volunteer is one who gives of himself for service of his own free will.

  • Reader says magistrate should resign following DUI arrest

    Editor:

I was deeply troubled when I opened our Trimble Banner. One of our magistrates had been arrested for DUI. I don’t know what the public thinks, but I sure think he should be forced to resign. He isn’t the only one in our government offices that has been arrested for DUI.

To the magistrate: Be a man and resign your position as magistrate. You are my magistrate, therefore I feel the need to speak out.

How can you even think you are doing your job? I cannot see how you feel you are serving the public.

  • County attorney expresses frustration with judicial system, cites example

    Editor:

I am the Trimble County Attorney. Courtney Baxter is running for Commonwealth Attorney in the November election. I have endorsed Mrs. Baxter and wholeheartedly support her election. She is the only candidate who has years of experience as a prosecutor and is qualified to do the job.
