We would like to invite everyone in the community that is curious, wants to form a Team, or wants to be a member of a Team for Relay for Life to a Community Kickoff!
We are hosting a Community Kickoff on March 29th. It will be held at the Trimble County Public Library in the large meeting room at 6:30 p.m.
We will have information about Relay for Life, explain what it is all about, answer any questions you may have and be your biggest Coach and Cheerleader!!
In a recent edition of the Trimble Banner, there was a full page ad from some out-of-town law firm targeting our nursing home here in Bedford, KY. As the full-time chaplain at Signature HealthCare of Trimble County, I witnessed several heartbreaking reactions from our residents (who we call neighbors) when they saw the ad that morning. One neighbor’s reaction stands out in particular. Ms. Gladys Penick with a distraught look on her face asked, “Why would they do that? I’ve been here two years, and everything has been great.”
I am not a liberal/progressive Democrat. I’m not a Republican. My party is the Watchmen Party. Read Ezekiel chapter 33 in the Bible.
It’s not about what party you’re in. If you are a godly man or woman, one day you will stand before the Lord Jesus and you will have to give an account of what you do or say. We need to put men or women in office/position who will stand up for our Christian faith.
With less than a month to the November 3, 2015 General Election, it is important for all Kentuckians there are five important constitutional offices on the ballot. Many people do not realize these positions can have more direct impact on the well-being of Kentuckians than those officials who go to Washington, D.C.
Despite the sprinkles on Saturday, the 25th Annual Trimble County Apple Festival was a HUGE success!!!
My personal “THANK YOU” is extended to all COMMITTEE MEMBERS, VOLUNTEERS, and SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT, for your untiring efforts to accomplish this triumph! I am so blessed be a part of such a great community!!!
After a brief time for some much needed rest, I look forward to preparing for our 2016 FESTIVAL.
REMEMBER – we are always looking for smiling faces. It’s never TOO early to volunteer!
Mesothelioma is a rare and deadly cancer caused by asbestos exposure. September 26th was selected by the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (www.curemeso.com) as Mesothelioma Awareness Day annually, and it encourages states to recognize this date. Kentucky is one of the 12 states that have permanently made September 26th Mesothelioma Awareness Day. It became official in April 2010 with SB62. SB62 reads:
(1) September 26 of each year is designated “Mesothelioma Awareness Day” throughout the Commonwealth.
A Century, a decade, a year … and counting!
The Kentucky State Fair celebrates its 111th year in 2015, with a colorful 11-day fanfare of food, music, rides, agriculture, animals, entertainment and fun, Aug. 20-30.
Readers share ‘pitfalls’ of AT&T 4G LTE network
It was with great interest that we read the article in the Trimble Banner titled “AT&T Improves 4G LTE Network in Trimble,” published July 30, 2015. Coincidentally, we had been interacting with AT&T all week regarding the same issue, and although the improved network may benefit many in Trimble County, we had a different experience and would like to share it, in order that others are made aware of some of the pitfalls of the new network.
My family and I have been members of this community for more than eighteen years. Through those years, we have watched two new schools built as well as a sports complex. Each time, we have asked, “Is this for the betterment of our community?”
