  • Two arrested at Pendleton meth lab

    A meth lab discovered in Henry County has led to the arrest of two people. Troopers from the Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg went to 221 Pendleton Loop at approximately 1 a.m. Friday. During a search of the residence, Troopers discovered a meth lab, as well as several ingredients used in methamphetamine production, inside the home. Outside the residence, Troopers discovered several bottles used to cook methamphetamine. There were no children present in the home.

  • Gifted TCMS pair honored for achievements at WKU

    Excelling at college entrance-exams can be hard, but 1,400 seventh graders in Kentucky did just that.

    Two of these students attend Trimble County Middle School — Jenna Rowlett, of Bedford, and Zachary Wright, of Milton.

    Western Kentucky University’s Center for Gifted Studies honored them on WKU’s campus on May 25. They sat in Diddle Arena with around 400 other seventh graders in a ceremony to be recognized for their big achievement.

  • Hannah Hudson on Dean’s List

    Hannah Hudson, Milton, has achieved a place on the University of Evansville Dean’s List for academic achievements during the Spring Semester 2012. Hudson is majoring in Science Education.

    To make the Dean’s List, a student must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

  • Local students accept merit-based scholarships to EKU

    Milton residents Michael Gonterman and Konnor Kimmel are among incoming freshmen and transfer students have accepted merit-based scholarships to attend Eastern Kentucky University. Gonterman, a 2012 Trimble County High School graduate, earned a Founders Scholarship. Kimmel, a graduate of Columbus East High School, received a Presidential Scholarship.

  • Trimble residents among college grads

    Kindoll Ann Jones

    Kindoll Ann Jones graduated from Jefferson Community College on Monday, May 7, 2012, with a major in Nuclear Medicine Technology. She became a Certified Medical Nuclear Medicine Technologist on May 4. She is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

    Kindoll is the daughter of Stanley and Debbie Jones and has an older brother, Josh. She is the granddaughter of Sue Nelson and Gene and Nancy Jones.

  • Trimble grad to attend Berea summer institute

    Donna Reeves, a 1981 Trimble County High School graduate, will be attending the 2012 summer institute Entrepreneurship for the Public Good at Berea College.

    In an intensive 8-week program, Reeves and 14 other Berea College students will learn to recognize opportunity and use it to enhance local economies. The participants will travel the Appalachian region gaining insight into the area’s economic conditions. They will learn social networking techniques and ways to manipulate online resources.

  • LG&E donation ensures fish fry trailer purchase

    Louisville Gas & Electric Company, which operates an electricity-generating station at Wises landing on the Ohio River in Trimble County, has made a corporate donation, which ensures the purchase of a new food trailer for the Milton Fire & Rescue Department.

    The department’s Station No. 2, located on U.S. 421N near the “crossroads” intersection where Palmyra Road and Old Milton/Bedford Pike cross U.S. 421, was a total loss as a result of the tornadoes that swept through Trimble County on Friday, March 2.

  • Trimble among 6 counties to form new I-71 Task Force

    Six counties joined forces last Thursday to expand local businesses and employment.

    The judge-executives from Carroll, Gallatin, Henry, Oldham, Owen and Trimble counties have been meeting together to form the I-71 Kentucky Corridor Regional Task Force, Inc.
