  • Library has new offerings

    If you were one of the lucky number who received an e-reader, MP3 player, iPod, or iPad for Christmas, you will be happy to know that library now offers free downloadable e-books, audiobooks, and music.  Users may browse the library’s website, check out with a valid library card, and download these to PC, Mac, and many mobile devises.  Users will need to install free software.  For audiobooks, music, and video, OverDrive Media Console is required.  To read eBooks, users will need Adobe Digital Editions. 

  • Retired teachers feted, honor scholars

    Carl Allen, former principal of Milton Elementary School, and his wife, Ila Allen, who taught at Milton, recently met two counterparts, who will themselves embark on careers as educators.
    In a sense it was a meeting of the ages, one that will not soon be forgotten, the old and the young coming together to be feted by the Trimble County Retired Teachers Association at its recent quarterly meeting.

  • Boil water advisory lifted in Bedford

    The boil water advisory for a limited number of Bedford-area customers of Trimble County Water District No. 1 issued last week was lifted at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29. Between 10 and 20 customers had lost water service due to water service repairs, which were conducted Tuesday.

    The advisory was issued as a precaution in the unlikely event of bacteriological contamination occurring while the main was depressurized. No major problems were experienced with the repairs, District representatives said.

  • Hawkins earns degree in mechanical engineering

    Zachary Hawkins of Milton, Kentucky graduated from the University of Kentucky on May 8, 2011 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.  

    While at the University of Kentucky Zach was a member of the UK Solar Car Team, serving as Aerodynamics Team Leader.  Zach designed and constructed the belly pan of the 2011 solar car.  The UK Gato Del Sol IV competed in the Formula Sun Gran Prix, May 5 – 7, 2011, held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

  • Former resident shares BIG fish story

    We chartered a 60-foot fishing vessel called the Point Runner and went deep sea fishing out of the Outer Banks of North Carolina on Sunday, June 5.

     We were hoping to catch some big fish and have a good time. We ended up landing memories that will last a lifetime!

    Have you ever thought of getting your GED and then let something hold you back?  Well, you are not alone.  Many people have had this goal and then some obstacle gets in the way.  These barriers may include transportation, costs, motivation, test anxiety, or learning issues.  The instructors at JCTC Trimble County Adult Education want to help you reach your goals.

  • Sheriff seeks help with investigation

    The Trimble County Sheriff’s department is conducting an ongoing investigation into several thefts in recent months. Some of the crimes may have connections to other surrounding counties, according to Sheriff Tim Coons.

    Among the items stolen have been radiators and tire rims from automobiles, electric cable and other items. Burglaries have occurred at numerous residences and some churches, Coons said.
