  • Elaine Jett is pie contest winner, pie auction generates $558

    The Trimble County Apple Festival Apple Pie contest was held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Bedford Inn Bed & Breakfast.  This year had a great number of bakers to enter the competition.  Fifteen unique and delicious pies were entered.  The judging lasted just over two hours with a local baker being named the blue ribbon prize winner.

  • Div. of Forestry offers tree seedlings for planting during dormant season

    FRANKFORT, Ky. --  With fall just around the corner, state foresters are encouraging Kentuckians to plan their tree-planting activities now by ordering tree seedlings through the Kentucky Division of Forestry.  Nearly 50 species including white pine, baldcypress, black walnut, white oak, yellow-poplar, dogwood, redbud and many more are available by calling toll free 1-800-866-0555.  Order forms are also available on-line at http://forestry.ky.gov.

  • 3 injured in 421 crash

    Three persons were injured in a traffic accident on U.S. 421N at 5:51 p.m. Friday. Kentucky State Police said a vehicle driven by Josh Wainscott, 24, of Carrollton, pulled from a body shop into the path of a vehicle driven by Caileigh Kidd, 22, Madison. Kidd and a passenger, Angela Ledcke, 42, of Bedford were transported to The King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison and Wainscott was transported to Baptist Northeast Hospital for on-life threatening injuries.

  • Apple Festival pie contest

    The Trimble County Apple Festival Committee will hold its annual Apple Pie Contest on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011. Judging will take place at 11 a.m. at the Bedford Inn Bed and Breakfast, located on the courthouse square in Bedford, Kentucky.

    Rules for the Apple Pie Contest are as Follows:

    1. One entry per person.

    2. Disposable aluminum pie plates must be used!

    3. Entries will be taken from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Bedford Inn Bed and Breakfast side entrance.

    No late entries will be accepted!

  • Repair Affair returns

    Trimble County’s annual Repair Affair is set for Saturday, Sept. 17. Volunteers are to meet at 7:30 a.m. at the Tri-County Community Action Agency’s senior center at Trimble County Park.

    Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Be ready for a day of helping your neighbors repair their homes and prepare for winter. To volunteer or for more information, call Jon Dunlap at (502) 255-3287.

  • HOLIDAY CLOSINGS

    All federal, state, county and city offices in Trimble County and its cities will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 5.

    Trimble County Water District No. 1 office also will be closed, as will The Trimble Banner and local banks.

  • Health retreat event is Sunday

    The Grand Opening of the Harmonizing Health Retreat, located at 1028 New Hope Rd., Bedford, will be held Sunday Aug. 21, from 10 a.m. until the day is done.
