  • Monday is ‘Trick or Treat’

    On Monday night, Oct. 31, ghosts and goblins will be running in the streets of Trimble County to trick-or-treat. Trick or Treat in Trimble County will be from 6-8 p.m. for children 12 and younger. Residents should have porch light on if wanting to ‘treat.’ Children should be accompanied by an adult. Motorists are cautioned to watch for children crossing the streets.

    Lt. David Jude, spokesperson for the Kentucky State Police, says the agency wants the children to have a fun but safe trick or treating experience.

  • Farm Bill program participation encouraged

    The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service in Kentucky is encouraging landowners, farmers and producers to visit their local NRCS office now to receive more information and apply for conservation technical assistance and possible financial funding opportunities.

    The application process for 2008 Farm Bill conservation programs is continuous, with funding selections made at specific times throughout the year. The Kentucky NRCS application ranking cutoff date for consideration of 2012 funds in this signup period is Nov. 15, 2011.

    Applications will be taken daily from 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. (excluding holidays.  Qualifying applicants should refer to the Application Period Schedule which specifies applications will be taken in alphabetic order based on the first letter of the last name.   • Fire safety is theme of week

        Milton’s Fire & Rescue is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association this week to let our community know: “It’s Fire Prevention Week. Protect your Family from Fire!” This year’s campaign focuses on preventing the leading causes of home fires -- cooking, heating and electrical equipment, as well as candles and smoking materials. Additionally, it urges people to protect their homes and families with life-saving technology and planning.

  • Hearing for LG&E application for fly ash landfill is tomorrow, 7 p.m

    Louisville Gas & Electric Company and KU Services Company has submitted an application to the Energy and Environment Cabinet, Division of Waste Management, in Frankfort to construct a special waste landfill at the LG&E Trimble County Generating Station at Wises Landing on the Ohio River.

    The Cabinet has scheduled a public hearing to be held ontomorrow evening, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Trimble County Extension Office, 43 High County Lane in Bedford.
