    Milton Commission

    A number of items were addressed during the business conducted at the Dec. 13 meeting of the Milton City Commission.

    Jeff Woods of Raisor, Zapp and Woods updated the commission on the city’s yearly audit. According to Woods, the city’s anticipated $108,000 general fund expenditures cost $33,000 more than expected.

  • Christmas Holiday Closings

    The following business closures have been announced for the holidays:

    Trimble County Schools are closed Thurs., Dec.20 through Weds., Jan. 2, 2013 and will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013.

    Bedford City Hall and Morgan Community Center will be closed Dec. 24-26 for Christmas. They will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 for New Years.

    Rumpke garbage pickup will be on Dec. 26.
    Milton City Hall and Water and Sewer Dept. will be closed Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

  • Bedford Commission tackles sewer bills, awards Rumpke bid

    At the final 2012 meeting, members of the Bedford City Commission voted to more strongly enforce the city’s sewage service turn-off policy and accepted Rumpke’s 2013 trash pick-up bid.

  • Milton Commission OK’s smoking ban, new projects for needy

    Next year, those who smoke could face fines if they light up too closely to city-owned Milton buildings.

    The Milton City Commission approved a new ordinance that prohibits smoking within city-owned buildings and not less than 10 feet from entrances. Violators could face $50 fines for each occurrence.
    The new smoking rule will go into effect upon publication. Signs posted at city properties will advise residents of the regulations.

    Nearly 300 people attended a Trimble County Christmas at the Trimble County Public Library last Thursday. And although no pot-bellied stove was to be found, young and old gathered to bask in the warmth of Christmas past and present.

  • Trimble man arrested on methamphetamine charges

    On the evening of Nov. 27 a confidential informant purchased 1 gram of methamphetamine from Charles Partin 57, of 620 Windy Ridge Road in Carroll County.

    After the transaction concluded, a Carroll County District Court Judge approved a search warrant for the residence. After the search warrant was issued for Partin’s residence, Carroll County Deputy Sheriff J.T. Shaw, Sheriff Jamie Kinman, Kentucky State Police and Carrollton Police Sgt. Rick Jackson all conducted the search of the home. Inside, they found the items to manufacture methamphetamine.

  • DUI arrest

    A Trimble County man sustained minor injuries after his truck overturned on U.S. 42 in Carroll County last week. He was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol of Drugs.

    Forty-year-old Lewis T. Dean, Jr., 202 Dean Road, Bedford, was traveling in the 4000 block of U.S. 42 at approximately 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20. Carroll County Deputy Sheriff Clay Cable responded to the report of the accident.
